Forums - General - To all Football fans, what do you think of Manchester City and their money?

How do you know that England based football fans are not passionate?  SciFiBoy is right.  And 200times more passionate? Seriously, what are you basing that on?

Also Zexen, he didnt come to England for money, he wanted to play in something better than a Sunday morning league.

Yeah, sure. You think players do this for the glory? Why does he say all the time that he wants to retire in Boca? He wants to make all the money possible and then come back, it's what he wants to, and I think that having seen him in the field since he was 17 and heard him speak in the news since then I know pretty well how he thinks. I still remember his last match in Boca. His crying was so moving, only like a true fan of Boca could do. I'm sure he didn't felt like that in his last match at Man U

He's a foreign, and he comes from a country where fans are 200 times more passionate than in England. It's no surprise that Man U for him means nothing. He's a Boca and Argentina fan and nothing else, I'm sure he'd never play for River, but in England he doesn't give a damn where he plays. Do you think he feels a Man U-Liverpool derby like he feels a Boca-River one? In fact, he came to Man U for money. If he didn't, he'd still be playing for us. I'm not blaming him, Corinthians, West Ham, Man U, Man City, they all can pay much more than we can, it's natural that he wants to win money, he was born in a very poor family and wants to improve his status.

Overall, you're blaming a player that said a compromise phrase, and that never was supposed to be a fan of your club. It's not like he was born and raised in Manchester. To him the United-City rivalry means nothing. It's like I told you, I love Everton, but I like Liverpool too, because I didn't grow there with the rivalry between the two teams, so I don't feel wrong when I'm happy that Liverpool wins, even though I'm an Everton fan

most football fans in England are pretty damned passionate, myself included, have you not seen how much football means to us?

your missing the point, he didnt say he loved the club, he said he loved the fans, and wanted to stay for the fans, surely, even he is aware of the fact that to say that and then move to a rival team is pretty damned insulting to thoose fans?

Yes, but not to the extent of Argentina. You sure love the sport, but when I watch an english match the crowd is boring. . Not to the extent of the Spanish football (that puts me to sleep), but an Argentinian will never feel that the english crowd is more passionate. You may think like we're savage (in an extent, we are), but it's just the same way I think you're too quiet in the stadium

I'm sure he said that so you liked him. Footballers (and people in general) do that all the time. Maybe he wanted to stay that time, maybe he wasn't expecting to sign for Man City, maybe he fought with Ferguson after that, tons of things could have happened.

ah, you see, your basing that off a few matches in the premiership, watch a game between United and Liverpool and tell me you dont see the passion of fans, also try watching non-league football clips, as a fan of my local non-league team, i can tell you that nothing beats that atmosphere of being right behind the goal, cheering your team on no matter what!

i still think what Tevez did was pretty pathetic, i think its best to leave it at the fact that he's gone and we will see how he does next season.

I picked a random match from both Man U-L'pool and Boca-River

Watching both, english fans still stick me as too quiet. There's barely any noise, no jumping, no excitement, of course, comparing with my experience with argentinian football

He wants to be with players of his quality and the home of football provides him with the best facilities, stadiums etc. It is the most competitive league in the world, forget about the money. Players from all over the world want to play in the Prem, no other league apart from La Liga is like it.

Money is a motivating factor, but he could have chosen Real Madrid and got similar trucks full of cash, he wanted to remain in the best league in the world

somewhat ironic you picked a game in which Micheal Owen scored for Liverpool, lol

well, in thoose clips, yes they made more noise, but i dont think noise is the sole marker of how passionate supporters are.

I'm not trying to change your views on football or anything. I'm just trying to explain Tevez' reasoning

In that clip yes.

Passion is more than noise. Passion is 800 fans travelling a 4 hour jorney in the lowest proffesional league of English football. Watch this, a see the passion. Its a top game aswell.

well, like i said, i still think what he said was at best poor judgment or ignorance, but i think one thing everyone here can agree on is this statemenet:

FOOTBALL IS THE BEST SPORT IN THE WORLD EVER!!!!!!!!

Damn straight! ^^

threads like this, make me wish i had on video some of my own celebrations when my team has won, if you want passion, you cant beat that, when United won the treble in 1999, i ran through the house cheering and celebrating!
