Variety reports that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince grossed an estimated $20 million at midnight screenings last night. If that number holds, it will set a new record for the biggest gross from midnight screenings, topping the $18 million earned by The Dark Knight last year. It's also streets ahead of the $12 million picked up by The Order of the Phoenix two year ago. If the new release maintains this pace, it should comfortably top $200 million by the end of the weekend, and beat Dark Knight's five-day record of $203.7 million. We'll keep you posted on news as we get it.

JK Rowling has more money than the Queen (rumour). Jk has said though...that she has "So much money she hasn't counted it all yet"....

To think she was a single mother on government help (being paid by the government to live) or what ever its called in the UK. Well that's what i read somewhere.

Also she thought of the story on the train just sitting there and she planned it for like a year or something before she even started writing.

Also i wonder what "fee" she gets from each film would it be a % of the Profit or a solid number? any one know this?

Well, that's not surprising, a lot of the Queen's worth belongs to the state, there are quite a few people in the UK who have more money than the Queen.

Theres a 2 day waiting list for tickets in my town. Sold out till friday -_-

what is really sad is how poor the video game performed compared to the previous game, when looking at how well the movie performed compared to the previous movie.

We have an 18-screen theater where I work. We literally sold out every single seat in our entire theater for the midnight show. That's about 3750 seats. We have never done that before, not for Star Wars Episode III, not Pirates 2, not Dark Knight, and not Transformers 2. It was freaking insane last night!
