Forums - Microsoft - Call of Duty to follow BF1943 footsteps

This is not an article or anything, just things I picked up after checking out the details on the MW:2 Prestige and Hardened Editions.

In these editions is a token for the free download of Call of Duty (yes the original from PC glory days) on XBLA (or PSN).  After seeing the incredible success that was Battlefield 1943 on XBLA, do you expect a remake of Call of Duty to be as successful or even more so?  I've always been a bigger fan of the CoD franchise than Battlefield, and the original CoD on PC was absolutely some of the greatest multiplayer action I ever experienced!

I have a feeling we will see even better performance from this game (as far as users playing and kill totals) than the overwhelming acceptance that was BF1943!  The actual sales may be lower unless they count those token downloads as sales.  I can't wait to play this game again without trying to install it on my PC!  If they redo the graphics and keep the rest of the gameplay mechanics the same this will be amazing!

EDIT:  For clarification, the game will also be released on XBLA or PSN as a stand alone download.  You do not have to purchase the Collector's Editions to get the game, it is simply included as a free bonus in these versions of CoD: MW2.

I also chose to post this in the MS forum based on my comparisons to the BF1943 360 version's success, and the greater number of CoD fans on 360.  Someone can post their own neutral version on the gaming section if they feel so inclined.

2nd EDIT:  Inserting article I found on the subject: http://kotaku.com/5185827/original-call-of-duty-coming-to-xbox-live-playstation-network

Apparently it has been rumored and speculated since March that this was coming.  Good to see some final confirmation and I can't wait to play this!

Wait what???

Do we have to buy one of those special editions to get the token?

You are not being biased at all in that post..

Also thats really good, but they should release the game so they can make more money.

I assume it will be downloadable/purchasable separately once it releases, just that the collector's editions get it included for free.

Wrong Forum.

Anyway, i dont think it will sell to well, i mean it wil be very expensive and not everyone want night vision goggles.

Thank you   I would have posted it in the "Gaming" section, but since everyone knows CoD is bigger on the 360 and since I was relating it to the 360's performance of BF1943, I posted it here.

I don't know why anyone would think I am being biased.  I do not doubt the PSN version will sell well also, but for the sake of my comparisons and for asking the larger CoD audience, I chose to focus on the 360 version.

Ok well maybe we should get rid of the gaming section and just have everything that is HD in the Microsoft section as most games sell better on the 360.

Your resons fail

Wait, so your telling me thats Call of Duty 1, the online game that I've played over 300 hours on, is coming to Xbox LIVE?

Oh man. Let the good times ROLL!

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

How about you try to contribute.  Revolutionary idea, I know.  If you don't like my reasons, live with it.  There is nothing wrong with what I've done and you have every right to go post in the "Gaming" forum if you wish.

Message to all:  Please stop trying to derail this thread or make it into a fanboy thread because I chose to base my comparison on the 360's audience.  If you do so you will be reported.
