Forums - Gaming - Natal less than $50

When something is that cheap, it's makes it seem very underwhelming... They should just bundle it imo.

This is the first time I have heard patcher being reasonable.

first, Microsoft operates very different from other companies, their priority is to make custoumers, not money. As long as they gain market share they can pour almost infinate money into a project to take over an industry. Microsoft could afford to sell a Natal that costs $200 to make for about $50 if it means that they can stomp Nintendo and become industry leaders and make up for the losses later.

You sound reasonable too, and I would believe it if it wasn't for the fact that it's practically impossible to monopolize the console and gaming market, and I think MS knows this too.

There's a huge difference between fending off Sony and conquering the whole market like you describe.

Can you tweak your theory a lil bit? To make it sound more believable lol.

I just don't see this happening. I think it'll fall into the $100 range, and thus could be bundled with a barebones 360 for like $250 by the end of 2010 when this slips out.

I just thought of something, though. If Natal needs to be able to memorize faces and voices and such, won't it require an HDD? That could offset their ability to apply this with the Arcade

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

How nobody noticed this is from BruceOnGames?

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

Natal is technically vastly superior to what Sony and Nintendo have to offer?? I seriously doubt this point as there is only so much interactivity you can have jumping infront of a camera... i.e. Eyetoy!

I don't know how much Natal will cost, but if Michael Pachter claims it will be under $50, I would bet against it.
What percentage of Pachter's predictions actually come true? Wasn't he still predicting the PS3 would outsell the Wii and 360 until like a year ago?  Now he thinks Nintendo will release a WiiHD within the next year.  The dude is a total idiot and should just be ignored.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Yeah he expected the PS3 to win "thanks to Blu-Ray". If that wasn't bad enough, he still believes that, having restated it not long ago.

They can easily sell Natal at a loss, they will get their money back very quickly from what they will make on Natal games. This is, after all, part of the traditional console pricing model.

stupid analysts. This isn't the traditional pricing model at all. It is the new one that has only worked with limited success for Sony. Overall the model has been horrible for them due to the huge losses posted by the PS3. Microsoft is also yet to make any money on this model (in gaming).

Spot on, we don't know the average budget is on a Natal game either, its something new for developers to learn so more time is going to need to be invested which means more money.

$200 Natal confirmed.

This. patcher's price guestimates usually mean triple the money his prediction states.

No im willing to spend $120 max on Natal.
