Sony computer entertainment incorporate is still SCEI, walkman is just now part of it..

also, the PS3 is forecasted to sell more than it did last fiscal, and they arent on that trend right now.

The people in the forum do make some good points.

If there is a slim, just like saviorx said, 300 bucks is a reasonable price as long as it comes with backwards compatiblity.

I thought the whole point in making a Slim version of a console was to make the overall console smaller not just the thickness of it. If anything this Playstation 3 Slim takes up exactly the same amount of overall space as the original, if not more. It would take up less space when you play it on its side but by looking at it's design, thats out of the question.

Heres a comparison of the Playstation 2 and the PS2 Slim which I just made.

As you can see it takes up less space in every dimension (The Playstation and the PS Slim were exactly the same but I can't find any good comparison pictures) where as the Ps3 Slim (If those videos/pictures are real) the only size reduction is in its thickness, which seems pointless.

That appears to be the top half of the Playstation 3 slims chassis.  Look how much width and depth space it takes up.. You can see the person's hand to give you abit of a idea and the size of the disc opening. A Blu-Ray disc is 12cm wide, judging from the picture the Ps3 Slim is around 30 cm wide (2cm less than PS3) and perhaps the same in depth, making it larger than the Orignal Playstation 2 but slimmer.

Overall it seems pointless to me but if it helps bring down the price of the Playstation 3, I'm all for it. (Doubt it though, look at the PSP GO price)

^ lol... because a picture like that is the best judgement of the size. And I'm not sure about this one but didn't the Ps2 get slimmed down twice?

There are plenty of other sources which show the exact same model which I have based my size judgements on.

Also I read up on here Sony tasked these countries (Where all these Slim Ps3's are popping up in) to build their new Playstation 3's.

And no the Playstation 2 only has two models. 

Because another picture and a crap video is best to judge size on... Unless the Ps3 is sitting next to it to gauge the pictures don't matter.

I don't see a $399 PS3. Sony is really focusing on profitability now and a $100 price cut will just sink them deeper in the red.

It would be funny if it was still $399... would do absolutely nothing for sales whatsoever.

If Sony can't release it for $299 then I honestly don't see what the point is... a $50 price drop is nothing, especially since right now you can get KZ2 and MGS4, which is a $100 value, for the same standard $399 price point.
