Forums - General - FIFA to no longer allow players to celebrate with religious shirts

^ How the hell did this happen? LOL

It's just a point really.

I mean his argument is the most self centered selfish argument I've ever seen.

"They can't do it because I may want to watch it and I don't want to look at it!"

I mean... I could say that about dozens of things that i see that offends me.

Fat people in tubetops/mesh

Kids... hey all kids should stay indoors and nobody should mention them since people with kids are trying to convert me to have kids!

People who order "only the meat" in combination meals.

etc,

Kazs, thanks for the reply but I was talking about my post above yours that was messed up. I just posted late.

I'm on your side of this debate.

Yes, it's the fault of the so called liberals.

Take away your freedom in the name of other people's freedom.

A similar example (base on exact same mechanism and reasoning):

Here in Sweden in many schools the Swedish flag and our national anthem (yeah it's a tradition here to sing it as school ends for summer) is forbidden because it can offend immigrants (actually no immigrants complained, but the Swedes themselves in a pre-emptive measure thought it could offend and hurt the foreign born lol).

(and you can guess with your little finger that Sweden is anti-Christianity nowadays as these kind of phenomens usually go hand in hand)

I know what you mean. Lets stop the majority not to offend a small minority.

How can a national anthem offend anyone?

Lets not have jobs, because people without jobs will feel humilliated.

And the things is, is that this kind of backwards mentality is widespread nowadays.

marciosmg,

Im with you, totally. It made me smile when I read that Kaka or Lucio had "I belong to Jesus" printed on the shirt.

But liberals and commies think like this, this is so huge now:

It's wrong to express your religious ideas - especially Christian ideas, because it's a missionizing outgoing religion - because it's potentially 'mental rape'. Ridiculous.

But liberals will mental rape me every day if I put the TV on.

@ Kasz...

Don't call my argument self-centered and selfish! You totally missed my whole argument.

I'm not saying no-one is allowed to follow religion. I'm saying everyone should have the right to follow the religion of their choice on the field. It's not stopping freedom in anyway! FIFA just don't want religion to interfere with the game and become an issue that skews it.

No rights are being taken away, FIFA is a group not a government. All groups have rule to protect the interests and FIFA just don't want anything to do with religion and I acknowledge and respect that because I like all fans go to a football match TO WATCH FOOTBALL, nothing else.

So people rights to follow religion still exist, none have been taken away. They just don't want an issue made out of religion because it will cause them problems.

FIFA have nipped it in the bud before a problem of a Muslim team plays a Christian team arises and all hell breaks lose.

You just don't get it. I'm not saying no-one is allowed to follow religion. I'm saying everyone should be able to follow the religion of their choice on the field. It's not stopping freedom in anyway! FIFA just don't want religion to interfere with the game and become an issue that skews it.

No rights are being taken away, FIFA is a group not a government in case you don't realise. Nice spin buddy. Teams from all over the world have played against each other for almost hundred years, including Christian versus Muslim nations. It's been no problem so far.

Look at what you said about Thor.  That's  a VERY self centered and selfish argument.

As is everything in this post.

You are taking away peoples right to express their religion.

haha, I am bad at spin to be honest, this is why i'm not a politician (that and my automatic need to take an opposing view to stuff for no other reason than debate lol)

Good catch.

But I think you will agree the threat has exsted and still exists. Not much trouble has happened because football has been largely secular and they try not to let it interfere with the game. FIFA don't need the added hassle of religious views the same as they do with politics because the potential for trouble exists and they don't want trouble because it skews the game.

Please don't group us all together... and on another post, please don't group us with commies either.

I oppose a lot of liberal views as well as support some. If a flag or national anthem was banned I would be outraged. I'm all for free expression and so are a lot of liberals.
