PS2 is not dead at all, Persona 4 was released in 2008, there are still many games released, I disagree on this one too.

I dare say it doesn't make sense to compare a balance board and a game console which is 4 times as expansive. Clearly it's death sentence for me.

to use the balance board you need a Wii so Wii+Wiifit is about 350$ against 400 for the PS3, you can´t keep ignoring it to suit your agenda.

Ok so now about Wii + Wii Fit vs PS3...

I think it's a bit better seen that way, but still those are two really different things.

Wii Fit is still a software and a balance board, consumer target is still very casual, it's not a product really aimed at gamers... It's bought in two times too (Wii then Wii Fit), so the consumer doesn't see the real total price he paid, it helps.

Basically, I think the thing is everybody can use Wii Fit, it's useful both for me and my nephews, and my grandmother if she wasn't dead long ago.

On the other hand, core gamers are the main target of PS3, until now they don't have a big casual crowd compared to the Wii, and PS3 gaming is less 'useful' than Wii Fit. For example, older adults are more likely to be interested in Wii+ Wii Fit. It targets everybody.

Basically the consumer target is much much wider in the case of Wii + Wii Fit, I think it can better any pure gaming console sale on the long run, PS3 and 360... But it doesn't mean that much, and I doubt MS and Sony care that much about this particular sales gap.

It just makes them think 'Let's try to target the casual crowd TOO'. It's a huge market now.

Anyways, I heard Square Enix was interested in porting Final Fantasy XIII to the balance board. Which version does everyone think will sell more, 360, PS3 or BB? I'm leaning on the balance board due to the momentum that will spur with the release of Wii Fit Plus. When balance board owners goes to pick up WF+ they can preorder FF13.

Some of the point of this thread is that no game has, as far as I know, beaten one of its main competitors at the end of the gen. Very few have had a lead over a console 3 years into the gen. (Note: I have a somewhat strange definiton of major competitor, it goes like this by gen. 3rd: 0, 4th: 1, 5th = 1, 6th = 2, 7th = 2

The thought of Wii Fit outselling Ps3 is more of a fun fact than it is proof of anything.

And is Wii Fit really accessible to everyone? Who can buy a Ps3? Well, I'd say at least 100M out of the 150M console owners last gen, plus a fair bit new gamers. I'm not saying that these are going to, but they could easily do it. Wii Fit? There's just 51M people who can buy Wii Fit. Is the difference really that large? Depending on how you look at it, I wouldn't say it is.

Edit: And why is the price (revenue) all that important? Shouldn't you rather care about the profits if you're not caring about unit sales?
