Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why the Conduit bombed

@amp: How dare you forget to include in the OP that The Conduit is an AAA title?!  This makes it an even bigger bomb.  You should learn from that wise poster above me.  He's right, core games don't sell on the Wii at all.  Nintendo acknowledges this themselves.  If Mario had sold well they wouldn't be copying LBP.  There's even a thread explaining this:

Gald to see other people than Rol and I caught the sarcasm.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Nobody expected Conduit to sold like MK Wii. This game is all about legs. By the end of this year it should have reach 1 million which is good. It could also reach 2 million LTD and now you are calling that a flop?

The OP was sarcastic. Not some lines like "It doesn't matter that the other three games had much, much, much, much, much, much higher budgets.  It just matters that it sold less.  Also, the fact that the Conduit was only released in America and the others were released world wide isn't of any relevance either."

Hey look I'm gonna put a wink emocon next to my statement so it sounds less pathetic!

Anyway the conduit can't bomb because no one seriously thought it was going to be a hit.... Right?
I'm pretty sure it's being overtracked as well.

I love to watch gallant attempts at spin where no spin is required. This thread has been hilarious and disturbing. The Wii will never be a huge mover of core or hardcore third party titles. This much is a given. This game was reviewed poorly, and shove that biased crap back up your ass. It is the height of arrogance for anyone to believe they know more about doing a job then someone who does it for a living, or hell someone who actually puts real effort into what they are doing.

This game has been successful for the platform. The standard for success is just obscenely low when compared to the industry beyond this platform. Life may not be fair, but if you own and play the Wii you should know the drill by this point, and damn well know what to expect.

This was a funny joke thread just to see how many posters leap before they think. Nobody even expected greatness from this game, and nobody ever argued it would sell millions. So what the hell were some of you defending.

Everything here is true except

1)TC wasn't reviewed poorly, it came out as decent, just not a very good game

2) I think it could break 1 m and maybe end up near 2m, and yes, there were a few people predicting in the millions. Like er, me.

Reading through some of these responses is somewhat similar to watching mice being fed to a snake. This is very entertaining.

The Conduit has had a strong debut in America of slightly less that 100,000, and it appears the game will have legs too. Once the numbers are in for Europe and Other territories it's sales should jump again. Also The Conduit was developed by a much smaller team on a considerably smaller budget. These sales are darn good.

anyway, i want that game!, just i need more money :P
