Disney films are great for children and adults. Children enjoy the bright, colorful art styles and some of the comic material, while adults will be able to see morals Disney instills in their movies and enjoy the more adult-oriented humor.

Every 20 year old likes Futurama and anime. Hell, I do. But for me, I still don't like most animated movies. And even though you like some cartoons, it doesn't mean you're going to like others.

And don't over-analyze the movies either. Who cares if you find the characters contrived? That's true for almost any anime/cartoon anyways.

thats true i guess, but i just find disney characthers particurlarly annoying, moreso than in other cartoons, i also find the songs irritating, they seem to put songs in just for the sake of it at times, and they irritate the frak out of me. most of the plots also seem too transparent to me, again this is something i notice more in thre films than other stuff i watch which is why i mention it

Disney may get more return for their efforts and mass popularity but...DreamWorks ftw! Kung Fu Panda is my favorite animated film of all time.

I used to love Disney (just watched Lion King again yesterday), but in the last few years a lot of their movies have been pretty weak.

Pixar is carrying on the Disney tradition right now, but we'll see how things change with the Frog Princess.

For (basically) a little more than half a century Disney films were the only American made animated films that were designed to entertain the whole family ... In the mid 1990s with the introduction of Pixar (which was basically a Disney studio) and with Dreamworks being founded and branching out into 3D animated films there were more studios producing animated movies which targeted a very broad audience; and these studio's new approach to animated movies made them seem fresh and exciting.

Why a lot of adults who have no children still like Disney films is because they still have better stories that are delivered better than 95% of the movies out there ...

Because I grew up watching them. I love their movies. Although recently Pixar is much better than Disney. (I know Disney owns them now btw but still)

I forgot about the Pixar movies, those are still good. Although I still haven't seen Wall-E or Up yet.

Most of the classic Disney animated movies are based off of the format of a traditional Musical, and they (more or less) abandoned that format in the mid 1990s because there are few people left in the world who know how to create an entertaining musical; and even if you can few people enjoy them like they once did.

Edit: I should also add that MTV/Much Music and the rise of the Music Video (basically) killed off the musical, because people who were interested in seeing choreographed dancing or stories told through music that they enjoyed listening to had an outlet that was available 24 hours a day.
