For (basically) a little more than half a century Disney films were the only American made animated films that were designed to entertain the whole family ... In the mid 1990s with the introduction of Pixar (which was basically a Disney studio) and with Dreamworks being founded and branching out into 3D animated films there were more studios producing animated movies which targeted a very broad audience; and these studio's new approach to animated movies made them seem fresh and exciting.
Why a lot of adults who have no children still like Disney films is because they still have better stories that are delivered better than 95% of the movies out there ...
