Forums - Sony - Gran Turismo 5: Searching for Clues

One thing i've noticed after looking at these pics and going back to GT5:P is that the cars look more real due to the reflections on the Chassis and the Windows. If you look closely during Replays, you can see that the actual background is being reflected in real time and with all the changes in shadows, lightning and contrast. That, coupled with the great global lightning system that they implemented, is what, IMO, makes the cars look really fantastic.

The only things I think that have to be upgraded are the amount of jaggies that are seen in some cars (Especially in the Suzuki Cappucino and the Mazda RX-8, or when you're inside the cockpit of the Ford GT, because the shadow cast by the top of the car looks a bit jaggied as well), and the backgrounds in some tracks, especially the far view of the Fuji GT track, and some of the textures in the ground of the Suzuka track, because when you put them side to side with the beauty and almost real like look of the London and Eider Nordwand tracks, they do seem a bit lacking. Other than that, the game looks perfect and handles perfect IMO :)

So if the E3 trailer was made with the game engine, does GT5 beat Forza in graphics? I mean the Xbox fans were the ones to say that GT5's graphics were CGI quality so... it's not like Sony fans are going to argue against them.

Someone needs to cram this down Selnor's throat.

Why? GT5P looks good, but not that good.

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

@Ironman

Im not going to argue with you, you've got your own opinion, but I just want to ask you, have you seen a better looking Lexus IS300 and Ferrari F-40 models than the ones in those pics?

This isn't GT5:P.

Plus, if you mean the trailer for GT5 doesn't look that good... you need your eyes testing.

The pics are what I was referring to. I just don't see what you guys see. Too many jaggles, inconsistent finish on many of the cars (matt finish in one area, gloss in another) and the environment doesn't look as good as it could. I never said it didn't look good, but I really don't see any reason to hype up GT5p...GT5 is clearly going to be much better. However, I really don't think it will be that different from Forza3.

@Ironman

You have some valid points, as i've referred in my previous post, there are some things that the game has to fix, and the jaggies is one of them, they are somewhat proeminent in some cars as well, in others they are barely noticed, especially in the Ferrari F430 and in the Nissan GT-R 08, and the enviroments aren't very good in some tracks, but I really wish you would see the London track in movement, it's the most well done in the game.

I think GT5 will be better than GT5:P, it's only logical, and that Forza 3 will be a good competitor for GT5, in fact, I really hope both games do good, since that's what's best for racing fans.

Edit

@Everyone

Here's the best quality video I could find of the London track, hopefully most of you already know of what i'm talking about, but to those who haven't seen what's IMO, the best track and the best picture we can get of what GT5 will look like, the London Track with a F1 2007 racing on it, here it is, we sure to watch it in HD.

GT5 will truly be the defenite driving simulator this gen. (so far)
