Nope.
Wii has this gen won.

The only real "battles" now are...
PS3 vs 360
and
Wii vs HD

i think its more about the software (games) then the console sales.

and right now i dont think the Wii is getting the better games. (better than HD consoles i mean) , most are remakes of the older gens and the rest doesn't get that much "Hit" on gamers.

i hate to say it (cause i'll get toasted by Wii fans) but its the truth.

That's just wrong, there are lots of great wii games coming out...

Wii sports resort, metroid: other M, super mario galaxy 2, new super mario bros. wii, metroid prime trilogy, zelda: wii, red steel 2, no more heroes 2: desperate struggle, final fantasy: crystal chronicles: the crystal bearers, little kings story, monster hunter 3, sin&punishment 2, muramasa, silent hill, resident evil: darkside chronicles, dead space: extraction, etc

I could do the exact same thing with the Gamecube to try and prove that it had better games than the PS2....

And where did I say something about playstation in my post? You fanboys really think everything is an attack to your precious console, don't be so pathetic.

Ps: Wii has better upcoming games then the HD consoles because of New super mario bros. wii alone.

@ forza - please think about what you are saying. If the PS3 were to have a price cut next week that would double its sales for the rest of its lifetime, and also the Wii were to halve its sales from this week onwards for some reason.

New Wii sales = 96k
New PS3 sales = 180k

Difference = 84k PS3's favour

current gap between them = 51.01-22.45 million
=28.56 million

Which would take the PS3 340 weeks to overcome at the new rate of sales

Now, explain your post!

Absouloutely fantasic scottie awesome explanation

anyway i also don't think that ms or sony will catch up to the wii but sony does have a chance to come 2nd and beat ms if the ps3 get a price cut like say $100 - $150 near the holidays that would sell like crazy but then again ms would counter with maybe like another halo game or another $50 price cut or something

If Sony does increase the value of what you get for a ps3' price, im sure  the sales will pick up. After all, i'm sure everyone would agree it is more of a value now than the 600 dollar, rumbleless, game starved device it was at launch. Sony has come a log way with the system, but Microsoft has come even further with the 360. If they subsidse the cost of the console with Live revenue im sure they can drop the price to 99 over the course of the next few years.

Think about it. Most people who choose the 360 over the PS3 do it because the systems are so similar and one is half the price of the other. If Microsoft can keep that up, they have Sony beat.

With all this slim talk whats stopping MS bringing out a slim 360?
Everyone acts like the ps3 is the only console that can be slimmed down.

A. MS' inability to hire engineers who know how to make a console not over heat. B. it won't do much good in America. We love everything bigger. Look at our cars. The only good a slim will do is in Europe and Japan. C. MS already had an external power supply which already means it cut a lot of space with that that the PS3 has not yet.

A, they have one console that overheats yet they sorted with revisions and you act like every MS hardware suffers from it. Because Sony has such a good reputation with previous console reliability rates. Thats almost as retarded as saying MS will release the next console first because thats what they've always done. Ignoring they've done it once and their first machine was the last to the market. Don't forget it's not just one set of engineers that design the entire console. The people working on the Cell also worked on the 360 CPU so are you saying they don't know heat dissipation? They've learned from their mistakes like Sony did difference is they managed to do it in 1 gen. There was very little hardware problems with the original xbox.

B, So it wont do good in America then why will a PS3 slim do any better? America is where the PS3 is really lagging behind so you're saying there's no point to the PS3 slim as well? Why haven't you said that during all the "wait til the slim comes out" comments. Also america is only 1 market. You say it appeals to Japan, well thats the one major market MS really need help in so a 360 slim would be a really good idea. And you can then include Europe which is where you go when you want to make money.

C, Maybe you have a point there but they can still slim the console down a lot. Combined CPU/GPU, mobo revisions, slim DVD drive. The 360 is quite big as it is and when you look at it.

A. It is not just the 360 or the first generation 360 models.

B. Are you telling me Japan isn't lagging? Or that the Ps3 could use a boost in Europe? I bet you think the 360 sales are good too don't you? I got news for you. Both 360 and Ps3 are in a pathetic state right now. And anything to help it increase is much needed.

C. Good luck with those hardware revisions. Another thing that MS did to fuck themselves is the HDD.

A, what do you mean its not just the 360? what else? the zune?

B, I think with no exclusives and this time of year the sales are ok and that includes the PS3. I don't see why people think at this point sales should be amazing but what's your point? Xbox sales in Japan are actually quite good for the 360 but not for any other console which are established there. You said a slim would help in Japan for the PS3 so why not the 360 which needs it. If sales are low come September then yes you can say both the 360 and PS3 are doing badly but what does that have to do with the hypothetical situation of a 360 slim in Japan?

C, You think it's impossible why? Sure the HDD could be a problem buts that why the hire more smarter, forward thinking, optimistic people than you to work for them. There's always a solution. It's not like they will remove the ability to have a HDD like a certain other company.

This gen will end like this:

1. Wii
2. Shii(Joke from belgium tv show)
3. Xbox360
4. Dreamcast
5. ps3

Well, last gen, the Xbox was just insignifcant, so I only considered the analogy as HD = PS2 and Wii = Gamecube (because the PS3 and 360 share so many of their games anyway). The fact that is was a Playstation console last gen that was considered the best was merely a coincidence in the argument. You Wii fanboys are so quick to call someone else defensive...maybe it's really you?

Anyway, the original argument was that the HD consoles had better games coming out than the Wii, to which you proceeded to list a bunch of Wii games. A third of which were remakes/spinoff, a third of which were staple Nintendo franchises, then the other third being legit new good games.

And you'd have to be a fool to say NSMBW alone is better than the HD console's upcoming gameS (notice the bolded 's' signifying plural?). Hell, I'll just remake NSMBW in LBP and play it lol. T

Pearljam - Sega never took half of Nintendos market share.

Look, I'm not trying to get into stupid arguments. I said that Sega took NEARLY half of Nintendo's market, which they did. At several points Sega was ahead, and for a long time no system was the clear winner. Nintendo only came out on top at the very end thanks to Donkey Kong Country, Mortal Kombat II and many other games that really showed what the SNES could do. At that point Sega was getting ready for Saturn, had already released the 32-X and had basically abandoned the Genesis. You can't just look at the outcome and say Nintendo easily won, for a while there it really looked like Sega was going to become the dominant player.

My point is, no Sony system ever dominated like the NES. And Nintendo did worse with every generation after that until the Wii came out. That doesn't mean the same thing will happen to Sony, it just means that brand name isn't enough to win.

The highlighted is true. However, no Sony system was the MAIN console on the market either. Remember, the original Sega system was it's only competition, if you can even call it that. The PS1, PS2 and PS3 ALL had/have their share of competition. So, in a snese, in the 8-bit gen the NES was really competting with no one.

Regardless though, your earlier analysis was brilliant and I dare not challenge it

Sega does what Nintendon't. Believe me they had some hard competition from Sega. The reason why N64 failed wasn't really Sony's fault, but Nintendo made some mistakes like still using cartridges. That's the reason why the playstation sold so much, a lot of 3rd parry support went to it.
