I have to admit this is the dumbest thing I've heard someone ask in the forums in a long time? I know you are happy with X360 so simply wanting to shorten your consoles life on purpose is obsurd. If you don't have it in warranty anymore than just sell it for what you can and go buy an arcade unit like I did. I am also aware you are low on money as well. If you live near a Gamestop they have some nice deals on buy ins right now and they will give you at least 80 I believe for the X360. I took in a couple old games of mine and traded them in with my X360 and got myself a brand new arcade sku along with a PSP and 2 games.

Wow, did you even bother to read the thread. He has absolutely NO money, so he can't do a trade in, and if he sells it, he could not get a new one. Also, his 360 has given him the black screen a few times, and the DVD drive is not reading a lot of games. If he can get it to RROD he can get a fully working one without having to pay any money.

I agree!, he has no money so wants to do it this way to get a FREE repair and end up with a perfectly working 360, nothing wrong with that and I bet nearly everyone here would do the same if they was in the same position....

Why do you think I told him to do it that way!! I didn't pay a cent when I did it myself I told him what he had to do. I ended up with enough credit for a brand new arcade and a psp with 2 games. I repeat I didn't pay a damn cent. Need I mention I'm on unemployment right now so I'm in the same boat as him why the hell else do you think I'd have suggested this??

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

RROD obviously happened because Microsoft rushed the Xbox 360 to market. However, they are pretty firmly in second place maybe in part because of it. I'm sure they would have done it again.

I'd use Post-It notes over the vent holes instead of masking tape. That should still trap enough heat to RROD the console, without causing as much of a fire hazard. Post-Its also have the advantage of leaving no residue, which masking tape would.

Anyway, once you've got the vents covered, leave it on something graphically intensive for 24 hours. If we were talking about PCs then I'd suggest a high-end screen saver, but anything that stays really intensive without you having to intervene should work.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

Dude, you are not in the same boat. He has NO income right now, and he already sold the bulk of his games...what good does a 360 do without games to play on it ehe?
