Forums - Sony - One Way Sony can make a comeback without a price cut.

I know this may sound like a very horrid Idea and I don't mean this as a joke in anyway. I want to invoke a serious discussion on the possibility of this done right.

Now as Im sure everyone is aware the Master of Entertainment, The Greatest Entertainer of All Time Michael Jackson has recently passed away. Unfortunately before his passing Jackson had a very large debt. Im not sure how true this is but I heard that Jackson owed Sony a very large amount of Money. One way the Jackson Estate and Sony could both eliminate the debt and have the possibility to generate a profit for his estate to go towards his other forms of debt would be to make a Singstar: Michael Jackson Edition.

Singstar is probably the biggest sing-a-long game of it's kind and Jackson is arguably the biggest star to ever hit the entertainment industry probably moreso now that he's passed. I know it sounds horrible that someone would suggest capitalizing on someone's death but since this is Business it would be a very good idea.

And if Marketed and promoted well enough Sony could see HUGE Hardware jumps and SW jumps among their products.

What do you think?

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Death of a celebrity only has a temp boost on sales. To capitalize on this sony would have had to release this within days of his death.

Otherwise its just another game with some songs by adead guy (and zero HW/SW boost)

...dude...

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Hhhmm.. no. I don't think people would run out and buy PS3 just to play a MJ Singstar game. The Beattles are huge as well. Do you really think millions will run out and buy PS3 and XBox 360 to play Rock Band: Beattles? I don't think so. I don't think the Jackson family would agree to something like that anyways. Sony probably won't get much of their money back unless they take it to court. The court will just liquidate M.J.'s asset and use it to pay of some of his debts. The Jackson family members aren't going to use their money to pay of Michael's debt.

One way they can make a comeback as a Final Fantasy XIII themed system bundled with the game.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

Yeah, because saying Michael Jackson will help ps3 and start a comeback is so possible and positive

I think it's poor taste to take advantage of someone's death (although many people do it).

In my opinion there's the possibility of creating a backlash if people think Sony is doing that.

Wow.
