Forums - Sony - Mass Effect 2 on PS3 after exclusivity deal? bioware gives ps3 thumbs up

Your example sucks since the only reason it is coming to PS3 is because of a name difference. Ninja Gaiden 2 is still only for Xbox 360 and Publisher is Microsoft. This has somethign to do with a deal done between Microsoft and Tecmo. Now the way Tecmo worked around this was to simply name it Ninja
Gaiden Sigma 2 . I think it even says Only on Playstation 3 for Sgima 2. So that is not the best example.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

looks like some ps3 fanboys are starving for some wrpg greatness, but it not gonna happen. if first Mass Effect wasn't released so far then how ME2 would be? it doesn't make any sense - releasing ME2 and not the first game

It's the same game......or do you believe that if Halo came out and was called "Halo Sigma", it would come to the PS3 simply because of a slight name change?

Slap yourself

You realize that question was answered before you asked it correct?

Dead Rising - 360 exclusive sequel not related to first game at all - different place and different protagonist

Condemned: Criminal Origins - 360/PC exclusive

Saints Row - 360 exclusive

Ninja Gaiden II - 360 exclusive first game was ported to ps3

All of these have/will have sequels or upgrades (Ninja Gaiden Sigma II) to appear on PS3. Now with all that known, how would Mass Effect 2 not work?

both sequels to Saints Row and Condemned didn't have story as much connected to its predecessors as Mass Effect so if they would port Mass Effect 2 to ps3 they would have either port first game(and the sales would be killed thanks to the "delay" of the ps3 version)or release it simillar to Assault on Dark Athena.

if the PS3 version of Mass effect were to eventually come to the PS3 then the only question is would it sell enough for the publisher to make money and would PS3 owners buy it?

I reckon it could sell well enough to have it ported even if it's a year later, if both Mass effect 1 and 2 are ported along with all the DLC and sold together on one disc as one game, something like the orange box. This would justify the cost of the game if the game was sold for $60US and it will of course benefit PS3 gamers who have not yet picked it up, like my self, because of its added bargain value, in the process it would setup the future for Mass effect 3 to be released simultaneously on the PS3 and 360 because at that stage there would be no issue with the continuity of the story.

They are working on Dragon Age as a PS3 title...not Mass Effect 2. They liked working with the PS3 for Dragon Age. It doesn't mean all franchises will go to the PS3.

Again just loo kat the box art on both they both say Only on PS3 or X360. Depending on which game you are looking at. It is the same game at heart but this is how they got around this. Why don't you slap yourself instead. Tecmo made some sort of deal with Microsoft with Ninja Gaiden 2 and in order to get around it they had to do a name change plus they added new gameplay and features to make it even more different. Halo was a poor example because the franchise is owned by Microsoft so it would never see the light of day on PS3. We are talking about Ninja Gaiden which is owned by Tecmo so this is a little different. Both games are exclusive to that said system  according to Tecmo. Hence, why they both say the "Only for" crap on them. Your example still sucked. Another good example of this is Cross Edge for PS3 and Cross Edge Dash for X360 it may be the same game at heart but again the 2 versions are exclusive to said console. Nuff said!

You mix up too many things. One thing has nothing to do with the other. And in fact, Condemned 2 and Saints Row 2's stories were DIRECTLY connected to their predecessors so please stop talking about things to which you have no clue of.

Fact is, Mass Effect IS NOT Microsoft's IP, therefore it ISN'T impossible for it to end up on other platforms.

yes but you can play those games without playing SR 1 and Condemned 1.

Mass Effect 2 is connected to first game. main story in Mass Effect 2 require save file from previous Mass Effect game with your hero cause your choices in the first game affect ME2 and will affect ME3 so if ps3 would get only Mass Effect 2 Bioware would have to dumb down the whole game and then dumb down Mass Effect 3 specially for ps3. of course there is an option for new gamers but it's not the main part of the game here(so far it looks like it will be a side story). at the time when timed exclusivity of Mass Effect series would end(IF it WOULD be timed exclusive) it would be long after ME2 release and probably just before or after ME3 release on 360. they would have to port first Mass Effect to ps3 - how many ps3 owners would pay 60$ for 4-5 years old game(at that time)? if anyone think EA would release a compilation of ME+ME2, think again.

*facepalm*

Yeah, they made some sort of deal. It's called PUBLISHING.

Somebody else please explain to this guy why he's wrong, and why he's the only one who disagrees with the example of NG2 being an Microsoft published game that ended up on the PS3. I'm getting bored
