Forums - Nintendo - PES 2010 Wii releasing at the same time as other versions in Q4 2009

@silentmac

I disagree with that statement. Mario Kart is 100x more fun with motion controls. I tried going back to analog stick & i was bored out of my mind. Everything feels like it was going in slow motion.

Also, don't forget action games / beat 'em ups. Imagine how stale No More Heroes would have been with traditional controls.

Well, on the other consoles you can always buy a Wheel. The real advantage to MKWii is that you already had the "wheel" because it came with your system.

Also, I'll throw out there that sandbox games like Godfather are vastly superior with motion control just because you get to beat people to death with your hands, along with strangling, throwing, and all sorts of things. Godfather on Wii is by far the best game when it comes to motion controls.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I agree with your examples.  I meant motion controls make driving games the same on a technical level but I do like them better with motion.  Still, I can't point at a reason why using a Wii Remote is better for driving other than it is more fun.  The Excite games and Mario Kart are great examples, the are much more fun with motion than using a Analog controller but I can't say the controls are much better technically.

Whereas, RTS, FPS, TPS, and Sports games like PES all benefit from the increased accuracy of IR controls.  They are faster paced, more accurate, or have more depth.  I know there are no examples of an RTS with pointer controls but PES is basically a proof of concept for when one finally does come.  TPS is represented quite nicely with Scarface however, I wish there were a better example...   Anyone saying dual analog is better for FPS are just crazy, MP3 and TCon pretty much prove it.  The IGN editors agree with me on this too.

I can't say I see where platformers, fighters, or action/adventure benefit that greatly from motion but I do agree that they add immersion (fun) in games like Godfather, No More Heroes, and Punch-Out!!.

I can't see how motion/IR help games like Smash, Zelda, Galaxy at all though... Hopefully WM+ will change this...

The gameplay has been significantly overhauled too, with a new game balance system. In addition to overall stamina players now have something Konami is calling "instantaneous stamina," which has been implemented to prevent unbeatable runs being used a tactic. Overzealous sprinting will have adverse affects on the on-screen players, and excessive use of sprinting will cause them to lose immediate control of the ball.

Konami has also introduced a new free kick system. Set pieces are viewed from the viewpoint of the kicker, and using the pointer system, gamers can target the ball, add swerve and addition pace to kicks. Players can also use the system to move goalkeepers earlier in matches against human opponents. Controls have been tightened to allow for more fine movements, and AI feints have been added allowing players to bypass defenders while dribbling.

The UEFA Champions League licence has also been secured for the game, and the game will feature Lional Messi and Fernando Torres on the box art. The licences also allow for "extensive additions" to the Master League in the game.

Awesome news all around!

Isn't that the point?  :p

I hope this sells much better on the Wii! (although I have my doubts) The Wii version is not only one of the best Soccer games ever made but it is easily better than the PS360 versions. Anybody who knows what they are doing will buy PES 2010 Wii over any other other Soccer game this year.  The only Sports game that surpasses it on Wii is Tiger Woods 10 and that is saying alot.

I have a bad feeling that Konami have already killed any chance this game has for commercial success on the Wii.  On a personal note i have been waiting for the franchise to mature on the Wii so there is a good chance i will pick this up when it comes out.

it will still be crushed by the ps3 and 360 versions

It's too bad becasue the Wii version is better.

it's not better, its a different experience

Nope it's better.  In what way are the HD versions better?  Why do you bother going into Wii threads when you just spend your time saying that the best games on the system aren't better than their HD counterparts?  Are HD graphics that important that they overule the vastly superior gameplay in the Wii version to any other version.

It will be hilarious when next gen The PS4 and Xbox next have motion/ir controllers and people who have been saying that the controls on Wii aren't as good are singing their praises.  For certain genres for example, most sports, RTS, FPS, TPS etc. IR is vastly superior.  For driving and flying motion is approximately equal, and for platformers and fighters traditional controllers generally are better.  If you don't agree, I suggest you go play your Wii and PS3 or Xbox more because I have played ALL of the top PS3 and Wii games this gen and many of the Xbox ones and there simply is no getting around the fact that good controls on Wii make tired concepts vastly superior and much deeper experiences.

I prefer my classic controler for this game, love how it plays. Just because you played the games doent mean they are superior because you consider them superior, many may disagree with you so dont start talking like you are the final word in this discussion, I have a friend that likes the wii controls for this game, but most people that I know, including me, that play this game, prefer the traditional dualshock controller.

Woa! Argentinian would be cool too! If they include argentinian narrators I'd buy it too and keep both versions XD

I have some PC mods that add fan-made Argentinian commentators to the game. They're really cool and fun, though of course you see it's fan made and not official. A Nelson-Fabbri duo done officialy by Konami would be the best thing to ever happen to PES

Lol, I have moded PES games, Wining eleven liga chilena, with all the teams and narrator from el canal del futbol xD

You people are crazy.  Keep playing your same tired game then.  The new controls are what make this game special.  Otherwise you might as well be playing FIFA on 360 or PS3.

Also, just because you like to play with one type of control doesn't mean one isn't superior, someone who could control their entire team with IR would destroy you in competitive play.  Just like someone with IR would destroy a Dual analog player in head to head play in FPS.  I sooo hope HVS puts a dual analog option in The Grinder so we can settle this once and for all.  Anyone who uses dual analog against someone who is good with IR would be creamed.

Great news I had 08 (loved it) but passed on 09 because of the wait. I will be picking up the wii version day 1 for sure. Theres no going back to the other control schemes. PES on Wii is awsome.
