Forums - Nintendo - PES 2010 Wii releasing at the same time as other versions in Q4 2009

On another down note, this also means that you can't expect improvement in the next PES Wii. That's only a six month dev cycle, right?

finally Konami...

The funny thing is that if PS360 owners took everything they knew about Pro Evo, threw it out of the window and played Pro Evo on the Wii once they got over the learning curve they wouldn't want to play any type of football game using dual analog sticks again. Pro Evo 2009 is the best football video game I've ever played, and in my 29 years of gaming that's quite a few lol.

Pro Evo on the Wii is worth buying the Wii for alone if you're a football fan.

I think it will be crushed by PS3/X360, but not because "people are used to those consoles". Rather I think Konami already destroyed the franchise for Wii owners, while EA is doing their best to do the same to FIFA.

If you look at FIFA sales on Wii, it did decent (all-play killed some sales). Still behind the other systems, but a respectable number. FIFA08 actually did more than 1/2 the sales of the PS3 version.

GameSales
FIFA Soccer 09 All-Play
0.67m
FIFA 08
0.98m

PES could probably reach similar sales if it wasn't for the fact that they staggered the launch. While 08 survived and did really good, 09 suffered horribly due to staggered launches.

GameSales
PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer 0.21m
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 0.97m

I think PES 2010 will probably do <1/2 of PS3 sales. Had Konami and EA not killed soccer on Wii by delaying and creating a crap version they could both be closer to ~3/4 of PS3 sales for 2010 but now they need to re-earn the trust of Wii owners.

Your so right. You can't expect to screw people over then medoircly give them a little effort. At this point both companies are better off renaming the Wii version of the game.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Is this the first time it will be released concurrently? It will be interesting to see if this helps its sales

as someone says before, it's not going to sell. major third parties r screwing genres on the wii.

wii is ideal for fps, we got a good one, yet butchered by reviewers. and third parties are not even close to try anything for the wii.

now football which is already far better than 360/ps3, butchered by the third parties by there stupid decesions to make it family friendly(all-play), releasing it so late ppl already loose their interest.

and in the end we get third parties, reviewers, fanboys say no good game on the wii, games dont sell on the wii.

Agreed. I've played previous versions of PES and FIFA on my PC (with gamepad controls), and PES Wii blows them both out of the water. There's definitely a (re)learning curve, but the effort pays off handsomely.

Now if only Konami would add mouse-based pointer controls to the PC version, we'd get the best of both worlds.

This game could help third party wii support...

it will still be crushed by the ps3 and 360 versions

True, but it is a step in the right direction.

It's about time they stopped hurting the franchise.
