You'd think so, but they're just reiterating the "TEN YEAR PLAN~!" business.

And that tag line can go on but so far then it will get old. Notice Nintendo and Microsoft not complaining and saying 10 year plan

More power =/= PS2.5

So true but Sony wanted to actually make a true sucessor to the PS2.5 which was the original Xbox and decided to go all expensive and made the PS3.

More power is precisely what Tretton was talking about when he said PS2.5.
Tretton : "We could've come out with a PlayStation 2.5 for $299 or less, and in the first two or three years it would sell extremely well," he explains. "But there would be a point where people would be going, 'I am not really seeing the incremental leap.'"

Err I dont know that PS3 owners are, as yet, seeing an incremental leap......
Roll on Gran Turismo and GOW 3
Poor Sony. Still thinking their in a technological arms race and that THEY determine whether their box has a 10 year lifespan as opposed to the CONSUMER.
Guess they'll never learn! They better get used to hemorrhaging billions.
Thats hillarious...
Xbox 1 came a year later than PS2 and it completely destroys the stytem spec wise. Same with Snes VS Genesis and n64 vs PS1... PS3 has issues keeping up with 360 despite a year later start. Call it lazy devs and difficulty to program...whatever...its not technologically superior as it should be.
I guess he's talking about bluray, which has nothign to do with gaming. So gamers are still scratching their heads waiting for PS2.5
