Forums - Microsoft - IGN give 7 year old Battlefield remake a 8.5!

Great score for a game essentially 7 years old. Lets face it, it is one of the best online shooters to ever grace shooter games.

"I love that we can download great looking first-person shooters that support 24 players online these days. Battlefield 1943 is an impressive package that sets a new standard for digital titles. You won't find anything new in terms of gameplay, but the seven-year old Battlefield formula remains a lot of fun today. This is a streamlined game that does one thing and does it well: online multiplayer battles. If that's your thing this is one of the best times you'll have on Xbox Live this summer."

"Like any all-multiplayer game, Battlefield 1943 has its limitations. You either need friends to play with or you need to be comfortable playing with strangers online. There is nothing to do here on your own. But this is one of the best times you can have playing with people online. Driving vehicles, capturing points, holding off the enemy, gunning people down, sneaking around the back, blowing up buildings, gaining experience... There is a lot of fun to be had. One of my favorite moments is when I spawn on an aircraft carrier and have to take a ride back to the island on a boat. Tension builds as I see explosions and gunfire erupting everywhere I look until I finally hit the beachhead and rejoin the fight. Great stuff."

Damn some of my XBL-friends are already playing it, when does it come to Europe??? I want it so bad.

How much will is it?

It is 1200 points, or about £10 or $15... I can't remember precisely, it is on the BF 1943 website on the front page

I thought the review was kind of stupid. I read it on IGN PS3, and it talked about how it is amazing that you get games of this scale on PSN when we had Warhawk 2 years ago, and more.....

But anyway, I think I will be buying it, looks like a great game and it is cheap

I got it off the online XBLA marketplace, but had to search for it. I like the game, but it has MASSIVE lag issues right now making it barely playable

But this is the original Battlefield. And the graphics are considerably better than Warhawks. Thats what he meant. Battlefield 1943 will show us a Warhawk on steroids.

it's not the original Battlefield, nor a remake. the only thing redone are the maps. there are less classes, the health is different and the environment is destructible. I'd say it's a preparation for BC2 :P

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

My main complaint is that it is just a review for XBLA, I wish they would say that rather than pretending it is a PSN review. They are making it clear they think it is very special to have a game this large downloadable as an Arcade title, whereas the PS3 has had games like this for ages, and the best looking downloadable game is still GT 5 Prologue

Really, hope the gameplay is easy like Call of Duty.

Great. Now we really have the open-world online shooters genre covered on the X360.

Too bad it's only 24 players instead of 256 players like MAG. :/
