I told you guys last year.

Google will put a huge pressure on Ms come 2014.

I also said that google will be the reason that MS would leave Gaming industry ,,,not sony or Nintendo.Cause when they have a fierce competition for their main income they have put much more resources on their main income which is OS and cut the division that is not giving them anything.

Your conclusions make absolutely no sense...xbox isn't losing money for M$, so get's out of something making money?  Google's revenue stream is in far greater peril's than M$, since it's so focused, whereas M$ is diversified and far reaching.  Windows 7 is goign to be a corporate and government OS for the next 5 years, and you're assuming M$ is going to fall asleep again, like they did on vista...not likely.

They have lost billions with the Xbox 360. Although Xbox 360 is now posting profits, it won't recoup the money, and will end up in the red.

Huh...that makes no sense.

Yeah people told me that Chrome browser would be a serious competition to the Internet Explorer 10 months ago...

Market share is now at 1.8%.... WOW... IE is 65.5%, Mozilla 22.51% according to wikipedia.

Android Cell phone did not become the next iPhone either.

I think people use google as a great search-engine, but that's about it.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

? They spent billions initially in R&D and manufacturing Xbox 360, and while their console is now making profit each quarter since early 2008 (I think), that profit is not enough to recoup the money lost in making the 360 and on the 360's poor first couple of years. Hope that makes sense for you now.

I don't think I would use a Google OS, not immediately at least. Google's privacy practices are very bad. I don't know if this will be the case, but I wouldn't be surprised if a Google OS constantly sends information about what I'm doing on the computer to Google, for targeted ads or whatever.

What you're saying is pretty much what every single major website does. Amazon for example takes information of what products you have visited, and then recommends you products based on that.

Also, there's no company as "evil" as Microsft, which absolutely abuses their monopoly status and illegaly makes pressure on the retailers just to stab rival companies. On a 1 to 10 scale of "evilness", Google is a 4/10, while Microsoft is a 10/10.

A few notes from someone who has been in contact with this stuff.

The browser usage is hard to pinpoint because it changes alot depending on the visited sites and the countries, but yes, the Chrome browser is still totally marginal in adoption. Not that it is important, though: the big deal for Google was to be independent and to have a browser they could steer into the directions they needed for their OS and dedicated boxes. They got their very standard compliant browser, now they are developing the rest.

Also

1) in small-medium enterprises there's a growing utilization of Google's storage/search boxes and of their web applications, integrated with gmail

2) Android is not a phone, it is a software platform for mobile devices (something like an OS + development tools). And it's the one that is most rapidly being developed. Basically if you're a smartphone producer, your best options today are Windows Mobile and Android (Nokia's OpenMoko is always under work, we will see if Palm will make a comeback)

So, no, it's not only the search engine, though it could look like that from the outside: Google makes available a quantity of services and software for developers.

Google has a looooooong road up against M$ cause if M$ wanted, they could put a crap load of money into OS instead of the small fraction now. M$ is basically trying to cover all grounds.

thats whats called competition.  for ms to do that they would much of their profits.  they would have to cut unprofitable things and stop testing new big projects.

google on the other hand will mostly be taking market share for their general business while keeping the os as simple as possible.  unlike ms, google will try and keep their os minimal and continue making most of their money on their search engine.

That's why MS has made bing. This could get intresting. Which companys challenge is gonna win out in the end? Will MS succesfully challenge googles search engine monopoly or will google succeed against MS's OS monopoly?

Personally I hope google fails and goes bankrupt. They are being pretentious and I don't trust them with anything but their search engine.

Wow...you are completely full of it.

I work with Google...infact its right across the street and we play rockband at lunch sometime(on a 360).

Also I work with Microsoft who are great. Both companies employ smart and hard working people. Again, the point here is that you are full of it and don't know what you're talking about at all.

Well this gen is going for the long haul and the next xbox probably won't release until at least 2013. So they have at the very least 4 more years of profits.

Looks like a rip of Moblin !

Still my little netbook will try this eagerly.
