Interesting point of view and I can appreciate your early comments.

Here's mine with about 5hrs into in and 60% done with single player and about 1hr in multi. (Sorry I haven't added any friends yet, been quite busy and only had one moderate size session so far :( )

Graphics

Great detail and fantastic tech. Art style is really boring and dull. Definitely could have put extra work into the pretties. Art Style is why it looks worse than Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, etc.

3/5

Gameplay

Classic FPS run and gun. I started out on a harder setting, didn't even play default as many said it was too easy. Let me say, it is not too easy now. There have definitely been parts where I get my ass kicked over and over in frustration.

Room for improvement would be in the seemingly unchanging AI. Same types of enemies do exactly the same moves *every* time. More modern games have much more variety. Though the occasional sniping sons of bitches can really be a pain.

3.5/5

Controls

Perfect when you take the time to find your sweet spot. This is why I wanted FPS on Wii. I detest dual analog and think that while this is still not as good as kb/m, it is the best you can get on a console.

5/5

Multiplayer

Mario Kart is still better in ability to connect and run matches. Not sure why Nintendo's online component is so slow in connecting, I mean PC's with far weaker specs have had much better online connection abilities for years. I think Nintendo needs to worry less about personal security and let Parents control it, while focusing on why people like PC/PS360 online better. Hint - it has nothing to do with hardware limitations.

The multiplayer itself is really good. Game matches are nice and a lot of fun. Far better than my experiences on any other Wii shooter. If they could make the connections faster and frankly 100% of the time (first two days I tried to get in a game I couldn't and I have N wireless on 12Mbps cable interent).

4/5 (Can't blame the game for Nintendo's design and would be a 4.5 if it had local coop or split screen death matches.)

Overall

Worth my $45 and I definitely recommend this to anyone with a Wii, regardless if you have PS360 as it is a fun shooter and I'm sure once I get my friends on my Wii to get my wii speak running my experience online will be even better.

4/5

@superchunk

You sum up my thoughts exactly... Although, I will mention that the story is much better than people think, it just isn't force fed to you. After collecting all the hidden messages and listening to all of the radios I think they have as deep of a story as a Metal Gear Solid game for The Conduit 2 if they want...

^ Reviewers just don't take the time to actually get to learn the story because they just think it's generic anyway. Gamepro reviewer actually said it in his review.

Metroid prime 2 has also a crappy story if you don't read the scans... And that game has THE best story I ever saw in a game IF you read ALL the scans. It's 10 times deeper and sadder then metroid prime 3.

Yeah, I think for The Conduit 2 they really are going to have to put in some cinematics that hint at the complexity.  They can still do hidden messages and radio broadcasts but they need to put more of the story out there so that critics and people who aren't willing to dig will understand how great the story really is.

a lil update,

well I have to admit Im warming up to the game, Im about half way through the single player campaign, and that mission where you have to retake the Jefferson (?) memorial from the aliens was a bitch.

anyway, the graphics I have to see are a mixed bag and inconsistent, although overal very nice,I guess ill change my original score to 3.5 / 5

I plan to hop onto online soon enough

Once you play the last 2 levels and and have about 10 hours online, I wouldn't doubt it if you change it to a 4/5 or 80%...

I did it the hard way and stormed a bunch of the portals with the rocket launcher early on to keep the aliens from coming taking advantage of various health spots.

After watching someone else's walkthrough...  all you have to do is sit back and let the aliens come to you, and wait for them to stop coming before taking out the portals.  The portal don't have infinite spawn like I assumed.

Are you rating graphics based on what the wii is capable of? art direction? or technicality? Cause its a different score depending.

If you rate it across all consoles, graphics are maybe a 3/5
If you rate the art direction ok maybe a 3-3.5/5 (gets better later in the game)
If you rate it for technical graphical acheivements on the wii compared to only other wii games its a 4-4.5/5 overall.

This is an example of why review scores are all over the board. There's no consistency between reviewers. I used to have so much faith in metacritic but I now realize its flaws. Not to say it isn't useful at times.

Most people though could care less about the Conduit's single player. Reviewers need to spend equal if not more time playing the multiplayer than the single player because that is how the development time seems to have been split. The multiplayer map designs are great. The controls are great. There's little to stand up to the game on that front and its simply pure fun. Playing PC FPS I never thought I'd enjoy a console FPS. I hated dual analog when I knew I could rape so bad in Quake 3 Arena. Well, here I am raping noobs online on my wii. Hell yeah its a good time.
