Forums - Sony - No NXE for PS3

NXE was an incredible upgrade and is immensely popular with the fabulous Xbox Live community.

If Sony are smart they should copy the NXE interface immediately.

But the NXE is the XMB... menu style is exactly the same so Microsoft copied Sony...

But then we'll have to deal with xbox fanboys saying "Sony copies Microsoft!" and who wants to deal with that?

Honestly, XMB works for the PS3, it worked enough to make Microsoft question the blade system so I don't see why it's that big of a deal.

I don't think the XMB was the reason behind the NXE....

I don't think it was the main reason but the blades were confusing as hell and then Sony comes along with XMB that won an award and then Microsoft has to reconsider the way it was set up. I dunno. I just don't see them bothering change it if XMB would have been terrible.

I can see your point about the emmy...Almost...

But the Blades were atually closer to the XMB....The NXE was built to introduce Avatars...And is much more better than the Blades...As to the XMB vx NXE debators.....Errmmmm....is there a point to compare?

I'm not saying that they copied the NXE. I'm saying that XMB was a reason to switch up the blades. I'm not trying to compare NXE with XMB but this thread is saying that Sony need to create an NXE, which I don't see as an issue since it works for Sony and Sony fans. It's more along the lines of XMB made MS become more creative with their interface.

I doubt it did...The XMB was out for a long time...I'm sure MS noticed back then

Not that long.....2 years isn't that long when it comes to R&D and then implimenting the idea. XMB was out late 2006...NXE was announced mid-2008 at E3. They had probably been physically working on it for a while before it was even announced.

The PSP is not 2 years old....

That still does not make the XMB on the PSP since the PSP launch not happen...
That it was recognized when implemented to the PS3 as Ps3 + Psp interface does not make it a fresh new idea. Sony took the XMB from the PSP and to it on the PS3...Credit is due for it's PSP interface....But it was still out for a while and that's a fact....Again...I'm sure MS knew about the XMB when it was PSP only..

eh. I'm not saying they didn't know it existed. I'm just saying they likely overlooked it because it was only on a handheld and that wasn't the xbox's market. I'll just agree to disagree on this matter since neither of us know what the real influence was behind Microsoft deciding to create the NXE.

I told you..Avatars.....

You can say Mii's were the reason behind NXE if you want

Sony also began to intregrate the interface into all of their major electronics then as well.

I have to disagree, NXE copies XMB. It is just vertical instead of horizontal.

XMB you move right to left for different features and up down for sub-menus within those features.

NXE you move up/down for features and right/left for sub menus. It is just a bit more flashy and for the most part slooooow.

Eh.. No thanks.. I'll just get too confused if they set up another massive change.

XMB is perfect, it does exactly what you want.

Changing it to something similar to the NXE would just ruin the functionality.

Let me show you why they call me the velour fog. Hit it.

I met her in a club down in old Soho,

Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like coca cola,

C-o-l-a, cola.

She, walked up to me and she asked me to dance,

I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said;

Leela, L-e-e-l-a, Leela, Lee, Lee, Lee, Leela

Leeeeeeeelaaaaaaaa
