...............dammit.

Hmm, I'm gonna go for these covers now...

The game is an absolute cake walk honestly. I do not know why people keep saying you need to grind to get through the main story. Clever tactics will win out for you 90% of the time even if you are under-leveled due to how absolutely retarded the AI is. The side quests can have you grindign for months admittedly, but the main quest is pretty easy over all, and quite enjoyable. It is also a small fraction of what can be doen in the game. The side quests also tend to be really well done with a good story attached.

With the exception of Prinny Bhaal, once you get a Yoshitsuna, you're pretty much a walking god. Nothing anyone throws at you will even touch you. OP to the max, has hit range of 5 square (it's a sword ffs!) gives 8000 (I think) to all stats at lvl 100 and three extra movement block. XD

Glad this I saw this thread because I actually bought my first SRPG a couple of months back and it was Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP. That game was so difficult to master that I completely gave up. Some people on here thought of it as being easy, I did however give it the benefit of the doubt because it was my first time trying the genre and the series for that matter, but I just couldn't get into it at all!

Disgaea looks hard too! I just want something user-friendly for the casual if it is even possible for this genre

It's not hard as impossible, but yes, you will have to grind to beat the game. But, if your characters are leveled enough and with good items, you won't have trouble, it's not one of those games that you can only beat bosses with a certain strategy

But yeah, be prepared to spend some time grinding...and going a lot into the item world to level up both your equipment and your characters

Though I found the grinding is more fun than in other games, specially because it's so unconventional. Plus, you can "force" the grinding, for example by throwing one enemy into another you can get a more powerful one, perfect to get lots of EXP if you kill him

I agree. Upgrading weapons can be done two ways in Disagea, either spend massive amount of money and buy new gear or go into item world and increase weapon levels. Item world battles can be tricky (or at least I found them to be tricky). They are slightly different than your normal encounters.

It won't take you a lot of grinding time to finish the main story.
On the other hand, if you want to hit 1 billion damage or get the platinum trophy for Disgaea 3......
VERY HARD.

This.

4 ≈ One

Disgaea's platinum trophy is only possible in theory, it seems.

DDS was my first Disgaea game and I loved it! Will get PS3 version as soon as I see it cheap.
I would say its the hardest game I played in quite a few years.

Many levels tend to want a specific solution or order to complete them which you probably will not find on the first try.

Grinding was necessary for me since only killing enemies nets XP so healer and weaker characters tend to continually lag behind.
