Forums - Sales - Did 360 beat Wii in September sales for NA......

Lets wait and see what NPD states.

Most that argued X360>Wii were arguing typically on the US+Can 5wk basis, ending next week, which is what NPD is tracking.

So basically, given VGC's margin of error, the weekly data has done nothing to suggest who will win the month.

5 weeks? wtf. I seriously don't understand how NPD operates. I would make more sense to have Oct as 5 weeks than September. Oh well, I will update this thread when next weeks totals are in.

I might be eating crow then, if 360 doesn't drop off as quickly as I think it will.

It has nothing to do with NPD. It's a standard retail schedule. This is the odd 53-week retail year which is why the schedule seems even more strange.

The numbers show 360 basically doubling on a monthly basis.

USA NPD August for 360 was ~270k over 4 weeks.

We have 360 at 391k - and there will be at least one more big Halo 3 boosted week in 5 week NPD september.

So 360 should be at ~500k by Vgchartz for September.

I'm expecting 430-460k for 360 in the USA over the 5 weeks by NPD, and 25k to 40k for Canada over the 5 weeks by NPD.

Wii should be around 400k to 450k in the USA for September, and 30-50k in Canada for September by NPD.

I don't think the UK is a good precursor to Americas sales, simply because the Americas market behaves like it is composed of a bunch of UKs - each with different sales patterns, rather than as one huge England.

Personally I expect about 475k for both consoles in USA + Canada combined.  PS3 should remain at around 25k to 40k per week, meaning 125k to 200k this month in the USA, probably about 155k by NPD.
