EPIC Games banning complainers

Earlier today I received a report that EPIC Games was banning people on their official forums for making suggestions on what to change in their hit Xbox 360 game, Gears of War 2. Users of the game have become disgruntled after the release of the TU4 update which accompanied the double XP weekend and added a cringing effect to the smoke grenades. The update has received an overwhelming negative response from players that has filled most of the recent pages on the message boards with complaints about the update and the game in general.

In response, EPIC has been banning people from using the forums that have posted anything that could be consrued as a complaint about the game, even banning a user who asked not to be identified that has been on the forums since 2007 for making a post respectfully asking for Gears of War 3 to be changed so it is no longer "all shotgun battles" and asking them to spend more time on the network code to cut back on inconsistency and lag that has plagued the Gears franchise. I read the post after it was sent to me and it did not insult EPIC (as many complaint threads do for which case a ban would be justified) or any users and also contained no profanity, but the maker of the thread was still banned for his troubles. (Upon going to the forums to search for the thread to quote here, I found it to have since been deleted by staff).

While it is their forum and the staff there can run it how they see fit, you might want to think twice before posting there. Posting a legitimate concern may end in you being permenantly banned from the forum. Apparently, a welcoming community is not something EPIC endorses. Regardless, such stringent enforcement and overall rudeness is sure to lose EPIC a few fans and may become a blackeye on their reputation.

OT: Another reason EPIC is a steaming turd. They first purposely ruin Gears 2 online, now they thrw hissy fits when anyone disagrees with them.

Besides desperatly needing that new patch..

They didn't use Gears 1's perfect "choose your match" style

There are some lag problems.

Stand 3 inches away from the guy with a shotgun..........and it misses.

Gears 2 can be very frustrating at times.

TU4 update was necessary. I love the smoke grenade actually being worth something now.

They need to fix 2-piece, lag issues, and they need to remove players from being host. It breaks the game.

Amen dude.  Too often (particularly on busy Gears weekends) do I find that shotgun battles become a matter of me trying to hit a guy 4+ times, before they hit me once.  Forget trying to put them down from far away, entire hammerburst clips get shaken off like I'm shooting marshmallows out the front.  Usually three or four close range shots from the shotgun will work, but if I get hit once... gibs.  I think my connection (direct connect, cable, 10 down, 2 up) works against me...

It's a love-hate relationship really.  I'm addicted to the game, but when you get into a garbage match like that, you want to strangle someone.

That being said, it's the incessant "YOU SUCK, I HOPE CLIFFYB DIES" posts that ruin it for those who want to offer constructive criticism.

Thats great, now all Epic has to do is ban Level 100 Glitchers, Lag switchers, and hackers.
