I think metal is the only suit that's ever been used in 3d. I seem to remember using the metal suit in Mario 64 to walk under the water.

Whether they're suits or just power-ups, they're going to be freakin sweet!

Mario in his bee suit is already giving me the most enjoyable moments of laughing, the ghost suit is so hilarious it almost makes me kill with laughing and now you're telling me there are 4 more? Oh god I don't know how much more I can bear *lol*.
