Forums - General - What should I get? An LG Arena or a 16GB 3GS Iphone?

Opinions?

The Nokia N85, N95 and E71 are also valid options, as is the 6260 slide.

I like the Arena for it's awesome camera and it's FM radio.

I like the Iphone for it's better userface and App store.

Huh? People use the camera all the time! It's awesome to have a really good quality camera in your mobile phone. Especially if it's got a good video clip mode so you can shoot pretty much anything exciting you might run into and put in on YouTube for example.

Sounds like the 3GS is the answer then.

Isnt that one like 50% more expensive than the other phones you listed?

Iphone is only worth it if you're in love with Apple products.

I have an ipod touch and I've got to say.. It's pretty cool. But I tried the iphone 3g s at the apple store and it was horribly more fat/thick...

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... no it isnt.... where you holding a mac?

Myabe it wasn't the 3g s.. but it had the camera in it. It was about as thick or thicker than an ipod classic 120 gig.

The ipod touch doesn't have any dimensions

I'd guess the iPhone's about twice as big as the iPod Touch, maybe a little less. (Edit: I'm way off. The iPhone 3GS is 18 grams heavier than the latest Touch. Less than 20% heavier.)

But shouldn't the size be compared against other phones? I now the Palm is the same weight, and I doubt other hardware vendors could cram the same functionality into a substantially smaller or lighter package than Apple. I wouldn't mind if they made it a little thicker and packed in a bigger battery, but that's just me.

I think that podcasting is a perfectly adequate substitute for radio, and some stations have streaming apps available (warning: these chew serious battery and bandwidth). As for the camera, this guy says your camera doesn't matter:

The App Store is a big deal, and its relevance can't be overstated. Apple has basically positioned their platform to be the Windows of smartphones, with huge developer support. I heard there were 50,000 apps already available, and that number is only going up. It will be interesting to see if Palm or Android can attract the developer interest to compete with Apple in software.
