Forums - Sony - What LCD should I get for the PS3

Also the screen size. Dont go out and buy a massive 52inch tv, unless you sit very far away from the TV. Otherwise it will do more harm than good. It should be something like - 4 inches for every foot away from the TV. So to get the most out of the picture a 40 inch TV would require that you're about 10 feet away from the TV. But you can go a few inches above that recomendation. So like a 40-46 inch tv if 10 feet away.

Good luck.

Sorry but that is crap! I have a 52inch 1080P LCD TV and I sit as close as possible as you feel more "in the action", the picture looks crisp and stunning very close and very far away, obviously if you put your head a few inches away from the tv it looks a bit rubbish but who does that lol,

I always try and stay within a few feet (2-4 feet normally) of the screen as it really puts you right into the action, love it! 1080P looks stunning no matter how close you are, being close also lets you see details your eyes would normally miss.

Like what? Because I'm on a 20 inch HDTV that goes to 1080i and I'm happy. Sometimes I wish I had had a bigger HDTV but other times I'm completely satisfied

Depends really, take blue-ray for example, to really see the difference between 1080p and SD, you need a 40" or over screen, below that and the line begin to blur. Gaming is less effected by this but if you're getting a new TV, 40" is a definite standard to try and achieve.

I agree, there's really no need for for 20" TV to have 1080 res. You can only see the difference if you were practically kissing your tv screen.

Well I do feel kinda bad I mean I wasn't really prepared for the whole true HD experience, espically Blu-ray which is really 1080p. My HDTV is 20in and it goes up to 1080i. I mean I'm a satisfied person as long as the colors and the sharpness and knowing I got HD is there, I'm pretty proud on what I have.

Today is rough man, you got to take what you can get and I was blessed with this HDTV at a nice price. I will soon upgrade when its necessary but now I'm completely twisted and feeling good with my 20in. There are a few gamers on this site with a 20in or higher HDTV, just they haven't posted in this thread

It's cool, I probably couldn't afford the 20" when it was newly minted anyways. (still a poor student then!) But if you're purchasing in today's enviroment and also to compliment a PS3, I'd strongly recommend a 40" or over monitor, simply because they're getting so damn cheap these days that 'why not?' comes to mind and also for future-proofing.

@mibuokami

Bro, without a shout of a doubt if I saved up or had the money I would go 40in. There is a noticeable difference I see it everytime I go to Best Buy. I am tempted enough to hand them my credit card and say look I want that 40in but I'm not to desperate and since this isn't a thread for me, since I already own a PS3 I clearly just had to put my little 20in HDTV out there or I guess

But don't you worry I will be in that 40 in range with you guys in a couple of months. I'm considering a upgrade! When you said "40in range HDTVs are lowering in price" do you mean like the 1080p ones or 1080i?

1080p of course! Definitely 1080p! I don't even think any new TV sku coming out is 1080i only these days...

All current HDTVs are capable of doing 1080i...and as of a couple years ago when 1080P was a luxury HDTVs only did 720P and 1080i.

They are capible of accepting a 1080i signal but will be scaled to there native resolution  weither that be 720p or 1080p

Oh so you mean 1080i ONLY? If thats the case then yeah CRT HDTVs do 1080i only for HD. Otherwise all others have progressive modes (and normal CRTs 480i).

I use 32" LG LF15R(About $370), not Full HD but enough for me to use with PS3. :)
