Bro, without a shout of a doubt if I saved up or had the money I would go 40in. There is a noticeable difference I see it everytime I go to Best Buy. 1080p of course! Definitely 1080p! I don't even think any new TV sku coming out is 1080i only these days...

1080i tvs haven't been made since CRTs

All current HDTVs are capable of doing 1080i...and as of a couple years ago when 1080P was a luxury HDTVs only did 720P and 1080i.

They are capible of accepting a 1080i signal but will be scaled to there native resolution  weither that be 720p or 1080p
