you are such a conspiracy theorist. The thread in question that got locked is because people turned it into a "I hate 2.0" thread. ioi can see exactly how many forum views and posts happen in a given time frame, and he even said that forum views were up when that thread was created.
Even Alexa shows that page views are up overall - http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/vgchartz.com
The forums go through cycles all the time so posting being slightly down is not unusual. Also, coming off of E3 you can expect views and posts to be down since E3 is a big event that drives a lot of traffic.
oh yeah and ps3 #s have been adjusted down making the gap between it and the 360 even bigger that should sure as hell piss alot of my sony army off
on another note how come we dont get new smiles and why doesnt the spell check work it says specify spellchecker_rpc_url and how come the forums have to be in widescreen i understand y the main page does b/c of the 3 columns but the forums can fit nicely in 4:3 like they used to maybe if all that happened id ponder to come back to vgc those 3 things arent to much to ask for are they?

this misconception of "widescreen" drives me crazy. I'm on a non-wide screen monitor right now and it fits perfectly. We have a higher resolution layout.

spell checker - ioi has been busy and no one has harrassed him. It is on my list of things to get fixed some day.
smileys - those are the ones that come with the RTE and I'm sure it isn't high on the priority list.

maybe i only saw mods saying that activity was up while the rest said they feel it has been quiter around here after 2.0 i didnt see much i hate 2.0 posts maybe 1 or 2 the rest seem to be all facts
but if a thread asking a simple ? turned into a i hate 2.0 thing then people must be hating 2.0 and people arent going to come to a site that they now hate

People hated the blue layout when that was first released too. The funny thing, is those same people were begging for the blue layout to come back. People don't like change.
As for "feeling" like activity is down, "feeling" doesn't prove anything, while pretty much everything points to slow growth over the course of time. Sure we may have dips, but it gets right back up there.
As for saying there are less users online, that could also be due to changing how vgchartz counts online people. Alexa uses the same standard every time and shows that things are up slightly. Using the "users online" doesn't really work unless you know that the algorithm hasn't changed.

You do realize that it is the summer and the website fell into a lull last year after E3 too right? I'm of the beliefe based on what I've seen that 2.0 has done nothing good nor bad for reach/pageviews in the short run. In fact, I believe 2.0 in the long run will benefit the site not because of the new layout but because of all the added features.
