This thread does suck. The title might as well have been "cherry pickin wii gimped PS3 roxors!"

Here is a hypothetical situation for you dgm6780.

A person walks inside a store to buy a Wiimote. They find a Wiimote, but right next to it there is a Wii Play/Wiimote bundle. The person thinks "Hmm... For an extra $10 I can get this game as well." The person then proceeds to buy the Wii Play bundle because they see this as the better deal.

Now, I have to ask. Did the Wiimote sell this bundle or did Wii Play sell it?

This is just anecdotal evidence, but the very same thing happened to my brother when he bought a Wii Play bundle.

Apparently, the 5 or 6 games I bought last gen that were under 20 buck don't actually count. Does that make them non-games?

even if the attach rate is lower, the wii sells alot more software than the ps3 anyway, so it evens out i guess.

this is only america too, if you do a WW attach rate it most likely would be in the wii's favour, seeing as wii sports and wii play have each sold more than ps3's total lifetime software in japan.

silent wolf - you make my point, your brother was shopping for a CONTROLLER. just because he choose the bundle doesnt make it a GAME purchase. its a CONTROLLER purchase with a pack in game.

phalanx the $20 buck games would count, 100% of the price was to pay for the game. but in reality they prob wouldnt count because they were used games but if they were greatest hits selling for $20 it would count. but greatest hit's dont sit in top 5 of charts for 9 months.

theres not much arguing when people think you should count wii sports, a tiny mini game collection that is a pack in. i mean why not count the XMB as a game, it has sooo many functions and everyone that has bought a PS3 has it !!!!

It all comes off as some ego stroking to have 2 wii games at the top of the charts.

but that wasnt even the point of this thread. the point was that despite 3 million less consoles out there the PS3 moved more software 2 out of 4 weeks in Sept. and the monthly total was only 20K difference.

i guess seeing the non inflated wii #'s aggravated some of the wii bois in need of ego stroking?


how many copies would Wii Play sell if it wasnt with a controller? i would guess around Carnival Games level, 97K in 5 weeks. Thats hardly a game worth top 5 status with 2.3 million next to it. Anyone serious about breaking down wii software would have wii play in a seperate catergory, its called the accesories catergory.

and these guys using well i paid money for it logic have yet to counter why Minesweeper shouldnt be listed as the best selling game of all time. well except someone tried the "vgchartz isnt for PC games" route - which is both wrong and seceeds to my point.

That tiny little mini game collection has already sold more in one country than the best selling PS3 game worldwide.

If wii sports wasn't packed in people would buy a different game, they wouldn't buy a blank wii! Thusly that should count towards software, it's absence would somehow illogically drastically boost wii's software in your little comparison. Debate that, don't just brush it off.

So your arguement is... Wii play doesn't count because it's more successful then PS2's greatest hits collection.

As for your ridiculously stupid minesweeper argument.

I didn't buy a PC for minesweeper, I don't even know if my PC has minesweeper, the lack of minesweeper would not make me go out and buy Quake 4. It's a dumb argument. Most people with PCs don't even play minesweeper, most I would venture to guess don't even know where it is on their PC.
