Forums - Nintendo - Do "greatest hits" exist for Nintendo?

Perhaps I'm just oblivious to this fact, but does such a thing exist for Nintendo? I walked into walmart yesterday and took a good look at the gaming selection. Games such as SMG and MP8 still sell for 50 dollars. Sony and MS have greatest hits and platinum- which is basically a price cut for the game.

So basically- does nintendo have a "greatest" something? If not- why :p

They used to have Players' Choice with a reduced price and some bugfixes. There haven't been any for Wii or DS yet but I haven't seen anything saying they've stopped it.

No, at least not around here. All Nintendo made games stay full price except when a store does a sale.

Something along the lines of this?

I think that Nintendo titles that sold over 250, 000 got a player's choice title with it.

So far there have been no Wii player choice titles. As far as I'm aware.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

I remember Players' Choice back on the N64. That's how I got Wave Race 64. Not a bad game.

No, but games like metroid prime 3 sell for 10 euros here now.

^ that thing yes. See, i'm a bit of a tight ass and I hold off on buying a game until I'm sure it's cheap :p nintendo makes it quite difficult for me with their lack of price cutting in software. Then again, they're already cheaper than the HD systems. meh

Nintendo has stated numerous times in the last few years that they don't like this pricing model where customers expect an eventual price cut of software and so far they sticked to this. Neither the Wii nor the DS have Player's Choice offerings right now.

That explains why we haven't seen any player's choice for the 7th generation. Considering we're this far in, it's doubtful we'll see them change their mind at all. I don't mind though. I've always viewed Player's Choice, Greatest Hits, Classics, etc to be a shameful business tactic as you're trying to get people to buy into peer pressure. From my standpoint slapping something like Player's choice on it says to a potential consumer that this game is really popular! You should buy it for that reason. Also it's lowered in price.

If nintendo is abandoning this policy in favor of selling their games for what they truly offer the consumer. Fun and enjoyment. All the more power to them.

Nintendo should cut the price of 5 or 6 games sometime soon. Just to see if it turns into any sort of a HW boost.

They had back with the GC, the Players Choice. Abou the Wii IDK, I think they want to do even more money now they are on top.
