Forums - Sony - Will the PS3 reach 26-28 million by the end of 2009?

Hmm... with no changes, as things go now, probably about 27-28m. Of course, things can change these numbers, such as:

Slim version: +1m
$50 price cut: +1m
$100 price cut: +1m more (+2m total)
GT5 launch: +0.5m (I'm thinking GT5P will have stunted this number.)
X360 price cut: -0.5m
Wii new colors: -0.5m
Wii price cut: -1.5m
PS3 wands announced for early 2010: +0.5m
Natal announced for early 2010: -0.5m
Max variation range: -2.0m to +3.0m (Of course, if all the negatives for Sony happen and they do nothing to answer them, that would be rather foolish.)

there are 22 million sold right now. it should have no problem geting to 27 million by the
end of this year

sony wants to sell 13 million this year but it wont happen

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

With a pricecut of $100, it should hit 30mil.

I don't think there will be a slim soon because I think it was 7 years before the ps2 got slim. I know that doesn't matter now but I do beleive there will be a price cut. I also think ps3 will roll from here on.

They might know more then you do.

Possible Slim = price cut, and a little thing called GT5 oct/nov release.

26/27 without a pricecut.

28-30 with a pricecut.

@indodude
So your saying its only going to sell 3 million from now till the end of 2009?

Then saying it would only sell 5 million if it gets a $100 price cut?

Didn't say it will exactly reach 26 or 28 million exactly.... Fine it will probably sell 28 million without a pricecut, 30+ with a pricecut... you happy?

who was talking financial years?

I already said I was, thus you are being redundant in a purposeful manner, your question makes no sense at all and it was most likely intented to be an excuse to your seemingly mistake

There is no way GT5 will release in 2009.

Why not? Yamauchi has stated in interviews multiple times that the game is essentially finished and that he intends to not release info or details about the game until weeks before the game releases. Sony has also stated multiple times their hope to release the game this Christmas.

Pretty much the only thing that could keep the game from launching this year is Yamauchi if he decides that he'd rather polish the game for more than 4 more months and Sony actually allowed him to.

Christmas 2009 release in Japan is certainly possible, but there's zero chance it will be available worldwide in 2009.

Both GT4 and GT5p were released in the month of Dec in Japan but 3-4 months later in the US and Europe.
