The PS3 has already sold 24m units ww,so of course it will reach 28m by the end of the year. My end of the year prediction has the PS3 at 31.5-33m

It will sell better I suppose. Doesn't the wii sell 4 million consoles in one month during christmas period? Ps3 will probably reach something around 30 million. Perhaps more if the ps3 slim comes out and the price cut. I'd like to see it outselling xbox360 weekly.

4 possible scenarios:

$399 Slim: 10 mill sold in 2009 =29.5 million

$349 (but no Slim): 10.5 mill sold in 2009 =30 million

$349 Slim: 11 mill sold in 2009 =30.5 million

$299 Slim: 12.5 mill sold in 2009=32 million


(so basically I believe in many possibilities because there's so many rumours going around, except in a $299 PS3 without a Slim release - a Slim version is needed to manage a $100 price drop in 2009. And Sony keeping the price at $399 through the whole year without even a Slim version is totally out of the question - something will happen this year)

Pricecut + slim = 13 million plus with or without GT5 which I actually do not think will come out in 2009.

Why not? Yamauchi has stated in interviews multiple times that the game is essentially finished and that he intends to not release info or details about the game until weeks before the game releases. Sony has also stated multiple times their hope to release the game this Christmas.

Pretty much the only thing that could keep the game from launching this year is Yamauchi if he decides that he'd rather polish the game for more than 4 more months and Sony actually allowed him to.

Sony is predicting 13m PS3s sold through fiscal 2009. So... I that it will just about reach 30m before the end of 2009. YIPEE!!!

with Slim/price cut 30m+ and with gt5 a bit higher
