Since, if I have this correctly, Wii Sports Resort is the only Wii Motion + game released in Japan,

No, Grand Slam Tennis was released the same week.

One week later actually, but yes, those are the only two games in Japan so far that support WM+.

The Wii balance board is in WAY more people's homes and support for it has been horrible. So why would they start to support Wii Motionplus?

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

I hope that the WM+ sales are big in the west aswell.

I Have an extreme tolerance to voice-work in video games. I didn't mind Vanille in FFXIII...

Because Wii MotionPlus allows developers to do things with the Wii Remote that they were complaining they couldn't do. The balance board is an obscure peripheral that has not a lot of use outside of fitness and board-style sports games.

Did you really need somebody to tell you that?

Good. Should dispel the fears about Nintendo's inability to kick-start momentum

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well done, Nintendo.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

I'm quite impressed with the way Nintendo have marketed the Wii since launch. I'm pretty sure that they could have released MotionPlus earlier, maybe even as much as a year ago, but have held it back for a time to give the console more ooomph in terms of sales when it's needed. MotionPlus first, then a possible price cut if Sony and Microsoft implement one and a different range of colours at some stage should see Wiis continue to fly off shelves for years to come imo.

I'm more concerned about HW sales momentum than WM+ sales... Hopefully WM+ will have good word of mouth, and that together with advertisements keeps HW sales high for a long time.

The first week boost in Japan wasn't so impressive, but if sales don't drop in the coming weeks it's not so bad given the economic crisis and what the PS3/360 are selling there.

While 600k units is impressive, I would hold off a bit on calling it a success.

Since, if I have this correctly, Wii Sports Resort is the only Wii Motion + game released in Japan, very few of those standalone units sold went to people without WSR. That would mean WMP has a 5% attatch rate so far in Japan. While 5% week one is definitely good, it's still far from the 50% that I would myself see as a success.

1. It's the first week. You make up that number just so you can claim for a year it's not a success, despite a launch this big?

2. Then you shouldn't see any 360 of PS3 game as a success, as none of them have that either.

3. Motion+ doesn't need to sell that high. It needs to boost Wii sales and renew developer interest. The latter of which is already happening.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Wow that's actually a lot more than I was expecting, and it's just the first week... :o
