Win7 is really what Vista should have been. Nothing more.

Yeah, and for 50 dollars, XP owners who game can finally upgrade and use DX10, and all the modern features they missed when they skipped Vista. Vista owners, for 50 bucks, can increase the speed of their computer, and get some more streamlined new features.

50 dollars is the right price.

it's old pc but perfomance wise xp still better.

but any linux distribution have all thoe modern features and can run all the effects on a  old pc than dual core 1gb+ vista/7.

50$ it's only the preorder price its 100$ home basic and 200 for home premium.

If you order it now, it's only 50 dollars. Home Premium, is only 50 now, if you preorder. There is a basic version, not for preorder, or so I understand. Win7 Professional is 100 bucks now.

When Home Premium lanuches: $119.99(now 49.99)

When Win7 Professional launches: $199.99(now 99.99)

Just what I thought. Trying to spin and marginalize the OS just because you don't like MS.

The half price offers are only good for a few more days. These are NOT down payments, you are buying the entire software for 49.99. The only thing missing with home premium is the XP emulation(which is for businesses running custom made software, anyway).

Win7 is streamlined just like XP, and isn't any slower than XP(people say). It also runs modern games, and has DX10. We'll see some benchmarks soon, but I'm sure that they won't be on some frankencomputer.

...but by all means, keep your 100 dollar computer, and complain because it doesn't work very well. Keep blaming that on Microsoft.

Truth is Win7 will probably be the best reviewed OS MS has put out since Windows 98. They obviously listened to the Vista complaints and addressed them all. Nobody has anything bad to say about it, except you, and I don't think what your saying is the truth anyway. It's 49.99 dollars now, and that is with full features. WTF is the problem? Most people will regret not buying this in about 1 week. If nothing else, turn around and sell it for a 50 dollar profit.

Your claims that Win7 isn't any good....is rediculious, and contradicts everyone who has ever reviewed it.

Yeah, this software is mostly for people with PCs. Most people probably wanna stick with the OS that goes with their computer. With Mac, you might have problems going to Windows.

Actually, you'll be able to use DX11.  That's what it says it's using right now, but even if that isn't the fully done version, it should be out when the operating system hits retail.

i am not spinning anything those are the price the 120$ its for upgraders from vista ONLY. anyone else its 200$ for home premium. 300$ for professional and 320$ for ulimate.

i got a Core 2 Duo 2ghz 1gb DDR 2 667mhz L2 and vista/7 are still much slower and eating up more than linux mac or even windows xp, i also did tested it on my other pcs, i don't trust reviewers i used the celeron desktop comparison to make a contrast with ubuntu compiz effects and how they run on a old pc compared to windows 7 RC1.

keep paying for more when you can get more for less, or even free.i am just making my post of my experience with it.

while 7 it's a improvement over vista(which was bad) still not os that came from heaven as people hyping it.

i don't trust reviews, if you are talking about PC world they were one that microsoft put in their Web browser comparison and everybody knows that IE 8 its not as fast, secure, or compliant as firefox safari or opera, and both safari and opera passed ACID 3 with 100!.

ugh no.

it vista make over.
installed on a celeron 2.53ghz 1.2gb ram with a nvidia fx 5500.
it ran slow and used most of my ram. leaving with only 100mb of boot.

had problems with AC 97 drivers (doesn't work well with 5.1 windows 7).

and Aero still clunky as ever.

while it a 10% improvement over vista.

i can run ubuntu with all the effects and never go down 50fps.

No sir, none of that is true. Those are malicious claims from a umbuntu fan, imo. All beta testers disagree, and even PSRock. Also, you pulled the 10 percent out of your ass, and to many, even a 10 percent improvement is worth 49.99, and also, almost nobody wants to use ubuntu.

Anti-Monopoly propoganda, imo.

i just installed dualbooting to ubuntu fully when 9 came out. and i try 7  RC1 on the same pc.

it's still a vista make over,  7 was still memory hungry and ate cpu cycles like crazy.

The problem is you have Aero active. Turn that off and Win 7 will run 100% better. Your system can run Win 7 easily if you turn off the extra features.

Well not necessarily true anymore actually haha, considering the multiple "Hackintosh" PC's out there now POST Intel Macs. But Mac's on the otherhand still run windows really slow, PC's can run Mac's software on the other hand quite fast, just an ethics and legal issue if you are willing to do it or not.

So, the one I bought is an activation code that replaces either XP or Vista, and not really a standalone activation code?

That sucks.

I am planning on using it to upgrade from Vista, but I guess people who want to use it on brand new computers can't do so.

...Christ 200 dollars for home Premium....

I just saw this:

Upgrade to Windows 7

All editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista qualify you to upgrade.

If you do plan on upgrading an old computer, you better get them while they're hot, I guess. :(

Sorry bro, I was wrong about the pricing.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

From Microsoft:

It's pretty simple

Windows 7 is coming on October 22, 2009. Here's an easy way to get it fast and save a bunch: Pre-order a Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade for $49** or a Windows 7 Professional Upgrade for $99.** That's about half off the estimated retail prices. This offer is available through participating retailers. Pick one below and pre-order today. They'll tell you how to get your copy when Windows 7 is available.

Then sit back and smile. You scored.

I guess that "Upgrade" part means that you have to upgrade from XP or Vista, and can't just use the disc to put on a computer with no current OS?
