American civilian lives are worth more to the world than Afganistan lives. A terrorist hit on American soil can cause a trillion dollars in lost wealth. That could make thousands around the world starve to death.

America is a symbol of freedom that helps others fight against oppression. When that symbol is attacked the oppression in the world increases.

Borat disagrees with you, he thinks Khazakstan is better.

Lol, the girl around 1:55 had it right. There is a revolution going on. (or at least was)

We both know that video is completely idiotic for all the wrong reasons.

can someone explain to me:

1) why we arent stopping the taliban?
2) how many years will it take to stop them, if indeed we can stop them?
3) how many civilians and troops need to die to stop them
4) if the taliban cant be defeated, why are we there?
5) do the taliban pose a direct thread to the UK and/or US?

1) They're hiding in Pakistan.  We can't just go bombing soverign nations... or at least not ones allied with the west.  Well or shouldn't.  For some reason Obama wants to lob missles into Pakistan.  Hey at least he's following up on a campaign promise.  We were doing ok... but then Bush screwed it up... and Obama is just making the situation worse.

2) Unknown.  They could be stopped.  But it will take a strategy that actually wants to rebuild.

3) Civilians?  Probably lots.  The thing with underground terrorists is... you don't know what they look like.  Plenty of innocents are going to get in the crosshairs.  Even if you do focus on rebuilding, education and making the locals your friends.

4) They can be... though even in cases where you can't defeat your enemies if you can harass and stall them it is often worth it.  The Taliban of today doesn't have control over Afghanistan for example.  If the US and allies did it's job right those people would be living ebtter.

5) Not much of one no.

2) how many years will it take to stop them, if indeed we can stop them? How long will it take to stop America?
3) how many civilians and troops need to die to stop them? I'd say everyone in New York and Washington
4) if the taliban cant be defeated, why are we there? If America can't be defeated, then why is the Taliban fighting against it?
5) do the taliban pose a direct thread to the UK and/or US? Yes, but America poses a threat to a lot of countries. Vietnam, Cuba, Congo, Korea, etc pop in my mind. Terrible things you guys have done there.

lol, im from the UK not US, lol, and im against the war, hehe, just so you know.

but yeah, i admire your bravery in posting that.

conservative estimates put the "extremist" muslims at 10% of all muslims.

of course seeing polls done in western countries where over a quarter support suicide bombings makes me think that is very conservative.

extremist groups have a very large base with which to draw people from. groups in afghanistan are a good draw for foreign fighters.

dealing with locals with is one thing...but then dealing with foreigners who have traveled far to fight for their religion is another matter.

the taliban can be stopped. the will to do what needs to be done to stop them efficiently does not exist. so its just managing them until afghanistan can deal with it themselves...pakistan has recently stepped up and are actually helping now, so thats good...

there is a threat. its clear and has been demonstrated.
