I've seen a lot of way out predictions for when the 8th gen will start, and figured  I'd gather everyone's predictions into 1 thread.

Keep in mind that the release of a portable can start a new gen.

I predict either November 2010 or early 2011

Why are people thinking about next gen. Why can't you be satisfied with this gen. If you wan next gen play the PC. It will come in 2013.

why? by then the thread will be dead and forgotten

@ Aion - So we should not ever discuss anything that has not yet released? Better go close the majority of threads on this site then.

@ Lafiel - Maybe I'll resurect it. The beauty of it is that I'm predicting it to happen in 1.5-2 years, whilst others have predicted 2015 in other threads. There's no chance that they will remember by then :P

When Sony says it starts.

I cannot say anymore with the release of the new console accessories. There really has to be a reason TO release a new console generation and those new accessories really don't give me much in the way to work with as an incentive for a console maker to pursue a new console. It doesn't mean that say Microsoft won't release one in 2011 or Nintendo won't release a new console, however I cannot personally put together a case for a new console to release at the present time.

I want this gen to last up to 2015, allow the world to recover from this economic crysis, allow developers maximise the current hardware and the profit they make after all there heavy investment into new tech for games....but most importantly, give enough distance in time so that when new hardware hits, the difference is visible from day one, cuz by 2015 all components should be cheap enough to put shit loads of ram into a console, added benifit of super rez textures, but finally allow real time destruction of the environment where the debris actually remains as well as enemy bodies, Red faction gorilla does destruction well but they use allot of tricks to hide things, suck as explosions and shake of the camera as most the debris disappears and this of course is because there isn't enough ram to store all this dynamic destructibility.

2012-2013.

All three platforms are enjoying too much success and have too much future potential to end anytime soon. This isn't like last gen, with a runaway success and two failures. This gen has a runaway success and two successes.

What about the 2 portable platforms? Could you see a PSP2 in 2011?

2012 for consoles. Might start hearing shit next year definitely hear something 2011.

2012 for Handhelds. Hear of new DS in 2010/2011 launch 2012. DSi bought it time.
