Now this is a decent entry level 360. The 'Core' was worthless IMO.
or a week AFTER the $399 Ps3 sku

This verison of the Xbox 360 SKU is going to sell real good. I guess its the answer to the PS3 new $400 SKU.
@W29
A terrible answer in my opinion

Awesome! The X360 Arcade is such a great idea!
Yes, it doesn't have a HDD, we all know that. However, adding in the mem card and adding games for free is great. However, it still needs a price drop.
Microsoft, sell it for $249 and make it kill the Wii! Please!
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

How is it No answer. Its an excellent answer for the casual market. That $400 price point isn't a casual price, but an $270 (I'm hoping Microsoft slashes it to $250) that is a casual price for the mainstream audience.
i dont feel its anything to do with the sony/ms rivalry, its an attempt to make the core the 360 for casual gamers. It has a casual name for a start, its very unusual for a company to re-badge a machine in their line up but the public is finally realising what a waste of time the core is. It comes with a bunch of casual games and a memory card so it can be played straight out the box, just like the wii!
As a step into wii territory, its pretty feeble, as a step into maybe attracting a few more customers, it will work, but not to any great scale imo.
