Forums - Microsoft - Is it just me, or is Halo 1 just more epic in scale than it's two sequels?

After playing all three consecutively you would immediately assume that Halo 3 was the largest in scale, but what you have to appreciate is that the players movement speed was much larger in the first game than either of the sequels, thus its easy to miss the fact that the levels were just HUGE in the first game, specifically "halo" and AotCR.

Easily my favourite of the three, oozes atmosphere that the other two just, dont.

At least you see what I am getting at. For me, it just raises CE above it's sequels.

Halo CE indeed has a great single player mode. Unfortunately it didn't have a multiplayer online :(. That would have been great!!!

Halo CE would have favoured campers too much. The fov was over 100 degrees wide. In Halo 2 they went with a pretty narrow fov, maybe 65 degrees which meant you had to keep turning to see everything thus letting the movement give away your position and cut down on the effectiveness of camping.

Halo CE on the PC had Online Multiplayer... Camping wasn't the problem though... The problem was vechicular noobing... like Banshee whores and Ghost noobs (TONS of those)... It was stilll pretty fun though...

I loved crushing people with vehicles.

There seemed to be a much lower flying ceiling in Halo 1 and 2.

Haven't played the third one but I much prefer the original to the first sequel. Halo 2 has awesome multi player but the single player is not as fun as the first one and single player is important to me since I don't like to spend any time online playing against coca cola high, prepubescent morons who yell "BITCH!" and "OWNED!" into their headsets all the time.

Oh, the days before discovering girls.

I never played Halo 3. I sold my 360 before it was released. Halo 2 was a great single-player game, but Halo was much better. Possibly my fav single-player game ever.
