Meaningless. All the OP said was that PS1 and PS2 slim sold well because the platforms were already well established, not because they were slim. DS Lite and DSi sold for exactly the same reason, because they are the established best platforms of the type. Do you think PSP Go is going to kill the DS? Unless you do, then StanGable is right.
A new model can be exciting and can spur sales, but a struggling console isn't going to succeed just because a new type of console comes out. Would a PS3 slim make people more likely to get a PS3? No. The price cut, however, would certainly drive sales. What it WON'T do is make people less likely to buy an Xbox.
This entire argument, that PS3 is one price cut away from blowing past Microsoft, is predicated on the erroneous assumption that PS3 is the superior console, and the only thing holding it back is price. A lot of people, though, don't agree. As of right now, if I had neither console and both were priced identically, I would buy a 360 without considering it. That's not to say PS3 sucks, but it's nonsense how every Sony fanboy assumes that the only impediment to the PS3's success is price point. Certainly that plays a role, but so does the fact that I, and a lot of other people, consider the 360 the superior console.

Get with the program, PS3 will not be successful because of PS3 Slim, it will only be if somehow Sony manages to get developers to stop making games for the 360. Till that happens there's no way the 360 will just suddenly stop selling. Discuss... |

I can still play Sixaxis games, though.

Lol, I stand corrected. I totally forgot about th ose 2 remodelings. Correct me if I'm wrong tho, didn't both remodels come basically at the end of their systems life or righ t when they already had released the next console?
