Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo buys a TV show

http://kotaku.com/5306098/nintendo-buys-a-tv-show

"You've played Nintendo games. Now get ready for a Nintendo television show, as the Japanese gaming giant have bought themselves a British gaming show.

And that show is called "Britain's Best Brain". While Nintendo won't be allowed to advertise directly on the show (thanks to British regulations), they'll be its principle sponsors, and the events on the program correspond neatly with those of Nintendo's more popular DS titles: memory, co-ordination, numeracy, recognition and risk.

So no, sadly, no Mario Kart cup races or Zelda speedruns."

Uhm... lol? Holy shit

I wonder how Nintendo plans to use this show...

How I imagine this happened...

*bottles of sake litter the office*

Iwata: I think we're a little dru-dru-intoxicated.

Miyamoto: Naw man we're totally wasted and I'm bored.

Iwata: What's on the internet to do... look there's a TV show on Ebay.

Miyamoto: Dude we should totally buy that. We can afford it.

Iwata: I don't know...

Miyamoto: Do it. Do it. Do it...

*the next day*

Iwata: Oh shi...

^^ That sounds about right :)

eh, Nintendo should buy a US based TV show and then they can have real life Mario Kart races and Zelda crossbow shootouts

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

Wow, such a weird move. Though the show makes sense as a way to subtly advertise the brain age lineup. Maybe they'll make sure to fill up plenty of commercial spots with it.

Maybe instead of wasting money with TV shows, they should put that money into making their online service competitive to XB Live.

Damn, I was hoping they bought True Blood or 24 or something...

Can you imagine watching 24 and then at the best part, an ad for the newest Mario or Wii Sports game crawls across the bottom of the screen?  lol

           Now Playing!

^ This is you!

maybe Nintendo is aquiring content to fill up its video service (already out in Japan, but it wouldent translate well to Europe and N.A.)
