Shooter shooter shooter thats what you posted, not everyone is only after that. UC was fun and i'm expecting the same from U2 but the reast are barely a though for me. With no Jak or Sly or any quality platformer R&C is the only option.

Well there is of course the Jak game on PsP releasing this year, but that looks like crap. Which is really a shame since IMO it's by far the better franchise of the three...
OT: It'll reach a million
Yes now with its bigger userbase that future tools of destruction it will sell more.

Yes. It'll get past 1 mil easily. And if for some reason, it doesn't look like it'll make it, I'll buy the remainder of the copies to get it there.
I think it is possible. I enjoyed tools of destruction and quest for booty i will be 1 of the 1 million plus sales.
The game before sold more than a million lifetime. Im pretty sure that this game will sell 3 million copies lifetime.

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, which was bundled heavily in the U.S. as of October of last year, reached 600-700k overall. yes. I agree with that. But mentioning that 127k from UK didn't really contribute much to anything since there is missing data and we don't know how much it sold from other places. If you can show proof that the 600-700k + Others = above a million in sales then by all means, prove me wrong. I'd like to be proven wrong in this instance. Also 1.2k doesn't add up over months, it adds up over years. I'm not saying it's a bad game. I'm just saying that it didn't sell amazingly and a lot of its "success" is based on the bundle pack that it's included in. I acknowledged my issue with the SAC numbers later on in the thread to MM. I just missed a bit of data for that one. And regardless of my numbers being correct or incorrect, does .37 million really constitute as a great selling game? |
Ok, if you want to play hard on this one.
The bundle was released on October 14th, 2008 in North America.
Looking at the charts ending on October 11th, 2008 (http://vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=39733&console=PSP&maker=&boxartz=1#) - Size Matters sold 3,121 for a total of 689, 244 copies - we will round to 690k.
Looking at BKK2's post, which contained accidental released ELSPA numbers (the Entertainment & Leisure Software Publishers Association - who establish the "collective identity for the British computer and video game industry)" - http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?id=1871516 - Ratchet & Clank sold 1,312 on the week for a total of 126, 353 - 126k. That's not extrapolated either, which is usually 10% higher (over 140k) - but we will just round it to 130k.
The total for now is: 820k before any bundles + 10k in Japan = 830k - Totals up to October in NA, March in the UK, and present in Japan.
This is as far as I can go with using official numbers that are available. But there is more proof that available.
Let's take a look at the rest of "Others" now, and back to BKII's post, posted on March 9th. The charts will all be for March 7th.http://vgchartz.com/eweekly.php?date=39880&console=PSP&maker=&boxartz=1# Use this chart for all my references:
"Tekken: Dark Resurrection" had 217,954 sales. In the Other's chart it is at 997k - Over 5x the UK sales
"God of War: Chains of Olympus" had 83,882 sales. In the Other's chart it is at 517,565 - Over 6x the UK sales
"Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories" had 568,853 sales. In the Other's chart it is at 1,875,359 - Over 3x the UK sales
"Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories" had 807,741 sales. In the Other's chart it is at 2,926,403 - Over 3x the UK sales
The rest of the games do not have complete sales on vgchartz.
As you can see, UK does not make up the majority of Others, varying from 3x to 6x. But let's say Size Matters was an exception, totally bombed in the rest of the Europe and Others, and only managed 1x the UK sales. 126,000 in the rest of Europe.
The total would then be: 952,000. At 1.3k a week in UK, selling at the same rate across Others remember, March 9th - July 5th - roughly 16 weeks. At 2.6k a week x 16 = 41,500
960.000 + 41,500 = 1,001,500 sales.
Ignoring all the other sales it would have accumalted in North America to this point during the past 8 months even with the bundle (it was selling about 3k a week before bundle), the holiday boost it would have had, and the fact that it probably sold 3x as much as I gave it credit for in Others, you can't deny this game is a legit million seller.
"correct or incorrect, does .37 million really constitute as a great selling game?"
No - the game sold .31million without Other's numbers. Never heard anybody say it was a great selling game. All things considered; the cheap budget, bad reviews, new lead character who is not very interesting (no offense), and the fact it is still selling without a discount price (1,637 sales in NA this week) I'd say it did just fine, with the potential to be quite good if the numbers are updated with Others and it continues to sell, not a "great selling game", but far from having "flopped miserably."
