Forums - Gaming - DSi vs PSP Go.

DSi, easily. The PSP go is a downgrade in every way. It even has a smaller screen by about 12 percent! it has no real upgrades and costs 80 dollars more. I think most people who buy it will only do so because it is new. It is worth way less than the original PSP, and it costs Sony less to produce. You can never buy a used or discount game for it, so everything will be more expensive, than it was for your superior console, with the larger screen, and cheap games.

BTW, you can install all your psp games to flash cards without needing a downgraded Go. (Edited: Legally!)

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

Would you rather buy the DSi or the PSP Go? Now the DSi only cost $169.99 which is $80 cheaper than the PSP Go which is 249.99(as much as a Wii.) The good things about the DSi are that its has 2 camera, uses SD cards, bigger screen, plays music, has DSiWare and its cheaper. The bad thing is it doesn't play GBA games. The good things about the PSP Go is it is smaller than the PSP, plays music, 16 GB of flash memory. The bad thing is it doesnt use UMD and it is more expensive.

+pros:

-both are lighter; psp is SIGNIFICANTLY lighter

-PSP: slidy screen

-PSP: digital downloads

-DSi: matte finish

-both: sexier (my opinion)

-DSi: increased range wifi connectivity (b to g)

-DSi: increased technical specs

+cons:

-PSP: smaller screen

-DSi: higher battery consumption (10-14 hours vs 15-19)

What about the complete inability to play your PSP umd games on your go, and the inability to buy used or discounted games for the go? Also, what about the loss of the UMD drive? The regular PSP can store GBs of data as well. You are saying the only upgrade for the Go is that it looks better, and weighs less? The PSP weighs like 0 pounds....isn't the Go a downgrade, for gaming, at least? The DSi is an upgrade.

Presumably a joke post? Are you trying to suggest that DL software is never discounted?

That's an app that won't run on PSP WITHOUT CFW and it creates ISO files which won't run on PSP's WITHOUT CFW....

Ok, don't know about that. It works though, and works well. I don't know anything about this, but if you use it for backing up your PSP games, you aren't forced to use the UMD drive, which is good. Optional installs without having to downgrade.

The loss of a used market is a joke to you?

Also, you own a PS3? This isn't steam we're talking about here, guy. How often you see PSN discounting downloads, comapred to say, gamestop, amazon, ebay, or your friend when he lets you borrow a game?

Yes, you lose discounts(mostly), borrowing of games, and the ability to have competition in your pricing. You lose out bigtime, as a consumer.

THAT is no joke. It is very much real, my friend, imo.

The lack of BC on the DSi is equivelant to the loss of BC on the PS3. I'm not a fan of DSi, don't get me wrong(though I've never used my GBA slot on the DS)...but the console itself has upgrades as well as downgrades over the original DSL.

The PSP Go, imo, doesn't. It is inarguably a downgrade for every game on the console, much more expensive, despite the fact that it is cheaper to produce, and has a 12 percent smaller viewing screen.

Also, it never had BC to remove, or I assure you, Sony would have done so.

I know you probably realized this, but if you didn't:

On your original PSP, you can actually install your games to a memory stick. You don't even need the UMD disc in the drive. All the UMD amounted to was an option, never a requirement.

I'll be the first one to admit that UMD sucks...but if you're in a situation where you need it, it can be a lifesaver.
