Forums - Nintendo - Super Mario Galaxy Japanese Website Gone Live

Could this be? Galaxy’s intro is actually more epic than the equivalent of any Zelda title? Heheh... And what of the perfect mix of old-school (Bowser’s airships, Kamek (!), even Peach’s “Help!”) with Galaxy's new awesomeness? Did you SEE that water BTW? Did you see the graphics? This, my friends, is production values, and shows why third parties suck.

Gameplay looks a-m-a-z-i-n-g. All of it. Mario even does punches/kicks - I was worried those were gone. All I want from this game now is to be able to control Mario while flying, and then it would be perfect. And, best Mario soundtrack ever? Hell yes.

Also, I wouldn’t worry about the game’s difficulty too much. You only have 3 HP, and there's bound to be plenty of pitfalls in every level. You probably will get plenty of extra lives, but difficult platforming will still be difficult whether you see the game over screen a lot or not.

This game will be amazing and will sell accordingly all through the console's lifetime. The visuals are on point, the story is classic mario, the gameplay will be perfect with the Wii. With as massive as Mario Party 8 was, this game will be even better.

Love the new imagined Toad Town and how they incorporated the castle but where the hell is Toadsworth. He's the toad.

Never argue with an idiot.  They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

i don't want to watch the videos, i started the prologue one but stopped it just as i saw the lovely water.

The great thing about these sorts of games is they look good because they look good to play, not becasue they have stunning draw distances, realism or polygon counts.
There was a time when 3D gaming was gaining momentum when i could get excited about levels of 3D rendering, but now its all just the same old stuff. Excitement like this, over gameplay, is a return to the roots of console gaming. I cannot wait.

Watch them or you'll regret it. 10 minutes of incredible awesomeness is too good to pass up.

The video looks interesting, and the bowser music from the warships started to play very nice. The one major thing wrong with the game is the crappy character models, i don't understand why they don't use the ones from Brawl, or atleast try to match those ones. I also wished they would of come out with a standard dual analog controller to play their games with, the wii-mote is a pain for me.

Awesome!!
(BTW I saw this thread, but didn't realise the Prologue vids were here as well - so sorry about the other thread!)

How good does that water in the village look?

to quote myself off of NeoGAF :

Mario Galaxy will supersede the laws of AAA gaming and create the category known as "S Class Title", where it will sadly remain alone until the next major Mario game.

Awesome quote :)

"S Medal Awarded"

We should have a Famitsu score for Galaxy within 2 weeks - anything less than a 40 will be a disappointment.

You should probably wait for Ratchet and Clank then, that should be.... good... too :)

This game looks freaking awesome.. and am so happy that instead of getting the royal 2-7month wait that we are so accustomed to in australia is only 2 weeks for this game

Aah and now people start to understand =)

I honestly had a feeling this was gonna surprise some people once new videos came out, even those of you who thought you "got it" before. I just didn't expect this so soon, I have to wonder if there is even more and perhaps I didn't even grasp the extent of it! I'm not claiming that I knew it in any concrete sense, but all the videos so far have had such an awesome feel and I think these newer videos express it better. This is easily my #1 most wanted game of the year.

Most games I don't really watch the sales on very closely, but with SMG I know each copy sold means another person who gets the Nintendo vision and for that reason alone I look forward to watching the sales climb rapidly at launch.

I am feeling good about my prediction right now, but I suspect thats a bit of hype talking.

Brawl is basically a 2D game, theres no 'into the screen' gameplay so theres alot more processing power available for just the character models. Thats why they're using the 'crappy' models.

Also the idea of the wii remote is not to be an alternate method to a dual analog(ue) controller, but to open up new gameplay elements that are only possible with the remote and nunchuck. If every game was perfectly playable on a normal pad it would be totally pointless.

You'll have to get used to the pain of the wii remote eventually, you can bet your life Sony rip it off for their next machine, if they can afford to make one ;)
