Forums - Sales - uk, 360 just sold 1,4 million

It's in this comment from chart track:

http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=484&s=1111

The UK’s love-affair with Rockstar’s PS2 San Andreas almost 3 years ago is still the benchmark for week 1 and lifetime sales. However, the PS2 installed base back then was around 6.6m (after 4 years) – Microsoft have to make do with ‘just’ 1.4m in less than 2 years. Released on Wednesday 26th September for the first time on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 format, ‘Halo 3’ was bought by 1 in 3 Xbox 360 owners in its first week, whereas 1 in 6 Xbox owners bought ‘Halo 2’ and back in PS2’s heyday (week 44 2004) 1 in 10 PS2 owners bought ‘San Andreas’. Although ‘Halo 3’ had a headstart on San Andreas with 4 days of sales in its first week rather than San Andreas’ 2 days, the launch is still very impressive, helping to more than double the sales of Xbox 360 hardware to the highest level shown this year and even beats Nintendo’s Wii for the first time since week 13 this year.

So, i think this info will help ioi to adjust these new numbers from uk for the week ending 29 september

For the software charts for this week in uk, you must see this thread:

This is a lie. Everyone that wanted Halo3 already owns a 360..and only the USA gives a crap about Halo.

/end sarcasm :)

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

@ioi: I'm looking forward to know whether your data supports this statement from Chart Track!

Looks like ioi is right on track for the 360 in U.K.

Week befor Halo:

ConsoleWeeklyTotal
10,9751,331,881

Week with halo should be something like that (We will see soon):

ConsoleWeeklyTotal
23,5001,356,381

Just guessing that the 1.4 Million is rounded the 1.35 is verry accurate (maybe 20k off what chart track has)

Chart track say that the 360 has just 1,4 million, so for me with your estimate numbers for the week of halo 3, it's not enough.

Have you seen the new numbers of the ps3 in France?

Sony say the last week, they were 200 000 ps3 in France. For ioi, it was 156000. Now with the update of ioi, it's a litltle bit more 200 000. So, i think really, that ioi adjust perfectly the numbers, with the numbers give by the official sources.

So, we can imagine that ioi will upgrade the 360 numbers to obtain 1,4 millions.

Yes, even if rounding isn't considered 1.35 is an extremely accurate measure of 1.4 in this context - it's within 4%!

EDIT - lombard that doesn't make any sense. First of all, there's rounding, I hope you know what it is. Second, 156/200 is not anywhere near the 4% accuracy which I calculated above... It's 22% actually. So 156 to 200 is an actual difference, 1.35 to 1.4 is just statistical noise and/or rounding error. Not to mention that Chart Track isn't all-knowing either, their numbers might be slightly wrong also.

I think to this sentence, it's just an anecdot.

In the week 13 of the year, the 360 hardware at vgchartz don't beat the wii hardware. (largely, not true apparantly for chart track)

For the last week, the 360 numbers must beat the wii numbers, and the numbers must double. The wii for the last week was 29000, so i think we will have adjustement, because the 23500 of just ben are not enough.

It's not a question of percentage, it's just that, this is not the first time that ioi update his numbers, and i can say you that ioi do what i said. When the wii reach 1 million in uk, ioi have adjust, and we have seen exactly 1 million.

When for the ds, they said 4 millons, we have seen 4 millions.

We will see, but it will be not a surprise for me if the 360 hit 1,4 million this week in uk at vgchartz.

But, there is exceptions, because for the 360 in France, there was at vgchartz 532 000. Microsoft said 430 000. ioi has adjust to 507 000. So, they are mystery in the ioi adjustements.

Well ALL my freinds have bought Halo3 so that 1 in 3 seems to make sense to me at least. Gotta love peer pressure.

Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony don't know how many units they sell to end-users.  They know how many units they sell to retailers.   So when Nintendo announces 1 million sold in the UK, that means stores bought 1 million.  When Sony announces 200K sold in France, that means stores have bought 200K.  It doesn't tell you how many end-users have purchased.  For example, Microsoft announced 10.4 million Xbox 360s sold world wide at the end of 2006, and it wasn't until more than 6 months later that they even reached 10 million sold to consumers.
