@Rainbird

So why is it that Gamepro can actually have a written review for us and not Edge? O_O

I guess it's because Edge wants to sell their magazine. If they published their reviews online, then why should anyone buy the mag?

But Gameinformer publishes their reviews online and their the top selling gaming magazine in the US.

Well, that's not how Edge does it.

@Rainbird

Well that sucks because this thread is straight boring and confusing if there isn't a written review to know why the gave that score.

Haha.

Good score for Battlefield and Fight Night.

Ouch @ conduit

^click the license to level it up! Please, and thanks in advance!

Anyone bother to READ the Edge review to see WHY it got a 4 out of 10? Anyone who complains about the score, without actually knowing WHY, then you are showing signs of being one of the worst type of fanboys on the planet... a Wii Fanboy. Why do I say a Wii Fanboy is one of the worst? A Wii Fanboy demonstrates the worst traits of all fanboys, in defense of a system whose graphics are the worst of this generation, which is designed for CASUAL fun, targeting non-gamers. In other words, it is for a system for people who have lives, and other things, who like motion control to do things they normally don't do on a game console.

When you hang on every single blasted numeric rating for a non-casual game on the Wii, in hopes that SOMEHOW this will result in a change in sales, and for HD driven core gamers to stop snickering at waggle, in hopes that they will accept you are core, then you lack balance. At least buy a HD console if you can't have balance, as your being upset would be more appropriate in the realm of PS3 or 360 fanboys than with the normal Wii user.

Yeah, many people found the game awesome, or, at least, a good game (-->>>6.5-8.5 ).  Many reviews scored it 70's or even 80's, just few of them scored it like a crap (40!) and you say it's all fault of Wii's Fanboys? You don't know what you're saying, it's not a single review that make great a game, is the global view of it to make it in that way...and The conduit is an enjoyable game (Said by many people that has played it, and not just start giving us stupid reasons like yours...).

That said, there's another 40 review on metacritic, by Giant Bomb...

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Are you serious dude?  Some of these so called "profesional" reviewers are complete noobs with the Wii remote and don't even understand the concept of pointing at the screen.  Gamepro complained about the controls but didn't even both to adjust them and didn't even try online (big selling feature).  I'm also curious if some of these reviewers tried different difficulty levels.  Conduit isn't a AAA game thats gonna win GOTY, but a good 8/10 game, at least from what I've seen playing it.  Also by the massive contrast in reviews it just seems that some people blatantly want to do all they can to ensure the game fails just because it's a FPS on Wii that wants to show people Wii FPS games can be just as feature packed as the HD console games.

Meh. Edge gave Killzone 2 a 7/10. IIRC, they scored 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand higher than KZ2. They are largely on my ignore list.

The Conduit getting EDGE giving bad reviews to wii games? Isn't that old news?

fixed ;)

LOl win..

It really isn't though. While true, it gives the impression that that treatment is exclusive to the Wii. Edge are notorious for lowballing many games of all platforms (e.g. both Killzone 2 and Fallout 3 received a 7/10). Take Prinny for example. It mirrors The Conduit in both meta scores and in their Edge score.

I posted earlier some Edge scores on some major Wii releases. Most of them were near or on the average and some were below. Very much similar to cases with the 360 and the PS3. More often than not, Edge seems to be among the low end outliers (see: Mass Effect, MGS4, Killzone 2, Fallout 3, Bioshock, Gears of War, Oblivion, etc.).

@outlawauron
Yeah, the Prinny game should be an 8 atleast, because it features a Prinny.

OT(eh, almost): I'm getting tired of all the Conduit this, the Conduit that now...and I haven't even played the game yet. I think the expectations were far higher than it could handle, really. But 10/10 to HVS for doing what they do and really trying to make good games for the Wii.
And btw, 20/10 to SEGA for being awsome :)

The only site that seems to have given The Conduit a sensible review was IGN. Maybe because it was a favorable review, it may seem why I think that way. However, literally 90% of the people here have opinions that match IGN's the most. The gaming media just hates the Wii too much to ever see its games for what they are, so why bother believing them.

I can understand the backlash of Wii fans to a certain extent as near the beginning of the generation it was quite hard to argue otherwise. But even as one of Grampy's most recent threads shows, the has been getting much fairer treatment as of late (I'm inclined to believe that it has always been generally fair with some obvious exceptions).

User reviews and anecdotes are great and all. I often base some of my purchases on them as well. But none of that makes this review any less valid or biased. Edge is often criticized for its marking scheme, which I think is completely unjustified. I mean a 4 from Edge is the equivalent of a 6-7.5 from most other sites. They simply thought it was slightly below average.

It's not as simple as saying most gamers' line of thought aligned with IGNs moreso than any other and therefore all other reviews are 'hating'. Hell, I don't even know why I'm debating this... Edge gave many raving reviews for exclusive Wii titles.

For God's sake, Indiana Jones got a 3, with endless waggle, PS2 graphics, and brief length. The Conduit is better in every regard and only gets a 4? Cut the crap.

I have said this before and I will say it again:

From now on, NO 3rd Party Wii game will ever get a 90% average on metacritic, gamestats, gamerankings etc, again. There have already been four and I'm sure there will be more. My guess at the closest one - Beatles: Rock Band, maybe Little King's Sory.

Just for some context, here are some score Edge has given to some popular Wii games:

Galaxy - 10

Zelda:TP - 9

Brawl 9

Mario Kart Wii - 6

Punch Out!! - 8

MP3 - 7

RE4 - 9

LKS - 9

Zack and Wiki - 8

Boom Blox - 8

Super Paer Mario - 7

Mad World - 6

Wii Sports - 7

exactly, they gave good (passable)scores that people expected from them from typical nintendo games(galaxy) that would get them stoned and killed for lack for credibility.If you give mario galaxy a bad score nobody would believe your reviews again,they were forced even if they hated the game to give it a high score.Games that didnt alter to threat the status quo, that arent bold or different for the wii. Boom blox, a typical wii game, why would you criticize it? its the typical game you expect on a wii(good as it is) , why bother giving zack and wiki a low score, nobody cares about the little game, so even if i bomb the score for it, nobody would get angry...

Buuut the conduit is a whole different breed, its a game that threatens to show wii entering the "hardcore realm", is not 1st party, is a easy prey, since it is not an stablished franchise,a and you know you will upset wii owners.You have to give a horrid score to show the wii is meant to casuals!  If theres big expectations for a bold game and theres people wanting to hear them put it down(namely , a number of non wii owners) regardless of quality, you will.
