Forums - Nintendo - Jeff Gerstmann reviews The Conduit (40%)

@Khuutra

It is but after playing both of those games that what the that gameplay thrives off of. I mean Halo 3 was clearly getting repetive to me after about a few levels because the formula was completely the same after level after level. And nothing has changed since the original Halo and Halo 2.

I'm not bashing the game or anything and I'm sure as heck not defending Conduit. But Jeff clearly doesn't know what he is talking about when he says Conduit brings nothing new to the FPS genre and clearly FPS genre pretty much has the same formula: Shoot, Kill and clear.

Gerstmann was always a hack but people seem to respect him because he was martyred at GameSpot because they fired him under suspicious circumstances.  Of course, he may have seen the writing on the wall and manufactured them himself.  If you go back and read forums on some of his old reviews at GameSpot, you will see that there are many of them that gamer's in general just didn't agree with.  Not just on the Wii (although it is pretty obvious at this point he hates the Wii), but on other consoles as well.

I did not know that. Learn something new every day, I guess - but that's what I get for spouting off without being familiar with the body of someone's work.

@xlost8:

All right, that's fair.

"You'll probably notice that those environments aren't destructible..."

They are, I've been blowing up environments all day.
Not everything is, but enough.

I own all of lastgen systems as of October 2008. (Finally got a Dreamcast)

I own every currentgen system except PS3.

I have to discredit his review when he starts talking about how the control felt slow and such

Anyone that has played the wii and knows how to use it agree that short of mouse and keyboard you have the most responsive controls of the big three………he is trying to hate the game b/c it’s a wii game and nothing more

heh OUCH

^click the license to level it up! Please, and thanks in advance!

It's just the man tryin' to keep the Wii down... They think if they rate it bad enough, they can make the game sell bad, and make everyone think: OMGZ!!!!1!1!1 HARDC0RE GAMEZ ON TEH Wii AER D000000MZED!!!1112121@!2!1!11111!!!!!!!!

Damn hardcore wannabe's need to get a life... Their plan won't work either... I won't let it ;P

How about we also stop trying to force the Wii to be everyone's answer for all their videogame needs also?  The Wii does GREAT at a bunch of stuff, but why does it have to be able to do EVERYTHING?

well he did flop other wii games

Why limit a machine from what it can do and what people want to do? WHy handicap it to only party games? No reason to... It only keeps the PS3/360 fans from being scared...

Yeah its like critics are saying, OMGZ a decent shooter on Wii?  Only 360 can have FPS! Oh yeah well it doesn't compare to Halo 3.  Nothing does!

(BTW, Gerstmann geve Halo 3 a 9.5)

Exactly. He was always a controversial figure, but he gained a lot of fame and respect for basically exposing the massive corruption within the industry.

It doesn't make him any better as a reviewer or a gamer, but it allowed him to remain a significant figure in his field
