Forums - Gaming - How much would you pay for a PS3? Owners, nonowners

It's worth whatever it has been priced as it's always been sold at a loss. Obviously the perceived value can go up or down depending on how the machine is utilised.
At the moment if I had to say how much it's worth then I would say ~$500.

I got mine for £200 but I wouldve payed upto £300 for it. I would have also payed £400 for the 60 gig version.

I believe the initial 600 € price was due to poor production capabilities and design.... nothing to do with value here.

500 ? Considering that you can have entry-level high-end electronics for 600... it is way too much...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

I'd pay 700€ I guess...

My PS3 does everything media related at home.
Tried the 360, does almost the same, but looking cheap. And I like my stuff to look good.

And with PSP remote play, it's just the best experience ever.

Reading this thread, I understand something. Lots of 360 owners are just cheap and prefer their system because it's the least expensive.
Come on guys... 200$ for a PS3?? You must be kidding... It's still worth a lot more.
Just say you don't want one.

How can there possibly be a wrong answer to the OP's question, seeing as it was a matter of personal opinion? He didn't ask what you think the retail price is or even what you think the retail price should be, he asked what it would be worth to you.

For me, I would not buy one at any price. I don't have enough time to play the games I already own; I don't really need new games much less a new system. And I watch so few movies these days that the blu-ray has no value to me either. Having said that, if I got one for free I would likely keep it, and eventually would get some games for it.

400 Euros. Thats what I paid.

I paid about $150 for my 20 gig and my 60 gig and I feel the value of the system would be $200 at most.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

For everything that's packed into a PS3, everyone saying that they'd only buy one for under $300 are being a little irrational...at least with the cost of production the way it is now.

It's like me saying, "I would only pay $200 for a PC rig that could run Crysis on all maximum settings and also has a 2TB HDD"

Yes, but not everyone cares about all the frills.  Some people just want to play video games on a console, not watch movies, download movies, do this, do that, and so on, so "everything that's packed into" it just doesn't matter to some people.

If I wanted a Blu-ray player, I'd buy a Blu-ray player.

If I wanted to watch a DVD, I'd put it in my DVD player.

If I wanted to surf the web, I'd use my laptop.

I don't need a video games console to do these things.  I just need it to play the games I want.

That's the thing though. That's what the PS3 is made for. We may all know that as a brand, Playstation is for video games, but don't act like that's the sole purpose. Even the PS2 had a DVD player, and served as the only DVD player many millions of people had. You personally may not want all those features...but you have to realize that they ARE there, and they don't come cheap

Everyone who already bought one would pay what they paid. Everyone who didn't, would pay less. So I guess I would have at one point paid an assload for it, and now, it's worth 220 dollars. Exactly as much as the Arcade with a used HDD from ebay, because they perform the same function, and have relatively equal libraries, with the 360 having the slight edge, due to early games, and BC.

As for a BR player, I'd never pay a goddamn penny for one of those, ever again.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I paid 750euro on launch day for my PS3 (extra controllers and games)
Price isn't an issue for me.

if Final Fantasy XIII was still exclusive, what ever the price was when the game comes out...Since FFXIII is the team behind FFX and FFVII I was all over it.....Now?
No comment....

Does the same apply for FF Versus XIII, since Tetsuya Nomura (the character designer for FFX and VII) is directing it?
