Forums - Gaming - What is the difference between Gran Turismo and Forza?

Gran Turismo apparently has a ball (but if you believe the Turn 10 guys, it dropped it O.o)

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Forza is for more for ricers, putting on body kits and pointless wings. GT is for car fans to screw around with stuff they cant see.

GTs cars react and handle more realistic, ex body roll while under heavy breaking. Also more realistic sounds.

GTs is made by car lovers, Yamauchi loves cars owns a few top end makes. Forza not so much.

GT has the backing and blessing of major manufacturers, works with them gets special treatment and access to cars. Forza does not. Thats why GT features concept cars that are not just for show but drive like the actual concept. GT is allowed access to sensitive info about cars from many of these manufacturers.

Forza caters to a more arcade type crowd that wants to drive fancy super cars, GT is more focused on the import crowd the lover of Skylines Supras Evos what not. These people want to drive the car in the game they own in real life.

Gran Turismo is a name, Forza is just a game.

GT sells amazingly, Forza is bundled. :P

They both have horrible fanboys.

GT has the support of multiple racing brands and licenses (WRC, Nascar, JGTC, D1, F1), as well as the support of many car manufacturers and tuning companies (VERY important, because they get to use the cars built by Spoon, Amuse, etc). Forza had a TV show and it sucked.

GT is made by true car enthusiasts, Forza is made by the lead singer of a metal band who has an obsession with the word definitive.

GT has horribly unrealistic tire smoke and tire screeching (the one thing that has always bothered me about GT). If I pull my handbrake in a F430 I shouldn't hear a super high pitched squeal from its 285/35 tires, such low tread depth doesn't allow for that kind of noise to reverberate, every car sounds like its driving on winter tires. It's ridiculous.

Forza is a more of a casual game, GT is more hardcore. You can tell just by comparing the menu music of the two games.

GT has TV, more cars during a race, more tracks, more cars, more features (drift mode), basically more of everything.

They have similar graphics, but we won't know for sure who wins until they release. At this point if I had to choose I'd say GT5 looks better, Forza 3 has an arcadey look that I just can't shake.

Forza wins in the sound department but not by much (comparing GT5:P to F2), they're both pretty sad as far as realistic sounds go, it's bad when NFS has more realistic sounding cars than the top 2 racing sims.

Physics are best left until GT5 and F3 are released for a fair comparison.

Forza has a number of fake or fantasy tracks, where as all of GT's tracks are real.

Forza has the ability to flip cars, but after seeing that at E3 I'm sure Polyphony digital will be adding that feature to GT5.

They will both have damage, as for who has better damage we'll have to wait and see.

Gran Turismo is like a fine wine, Forza is like a beer. Different strokes for different folks.

I'm sure I'll think of more stuff later and add it, but that about sums it up.

One of the biggest differences is that I can buy Forza 3 but I can't buy GT5.

I figured you'd say that, nice cover up!

You should have said "play" and not "buy".

the biggest one is polish.

GT is made by polyphony digital.
the head of GT is a perfectionist.

from the sounds of the engine, and the weight of the cars everything is recorded and tested by the studio with real cars and it shows when compared to other racers

also GT is a name in the sport itself, companies come to GT to show their cars because they trust the quality the put in the game.
the other is sony give a huge budget to gran turismo, their studio have actually access to the cars and they even make a REAL car with citreon design by polyphony and many their own nissan skyline.

they also design the graphical interface of the nissan GTR.

Wow... I beat selnor to the thread.

Anyway, the main difference would be the car licenses I guess... also one doesn't take forever to develop.

And that would have changed the time machine comment how?

I can play Forza 3, but not GT5=I have a 360, but not a PS3

I can buy Forza 3= I have a time machine.
